Customer Rating: Summary: Not great, but mostly solid Comment: I might as well lay my prejudices down immediately: besides the early stuff ("Schools Out", "Killer", even "Welcome to my Nightmare", my favorite AC album was "Brutal Planet". Almost every song is memorable, and it produced what I think was an excellent concert tour. See "Brutally Live" if you prefer live music.
"Dragontown" was not bad but a step downwards; "Eyes" and "Dirty Diamonds" lesser efforts as well. And while "ACAS" is better than the last two, and will provide a couple of good additions to the live set, it isn't the return to glory that many AC fans would like. "Vengeance" is the class of the group, followed by "Catch Me If You Can" and "I am the Spider" at the end. All manage decent hooks and repeatable choruses. The rest is pretty mediocre. I never was a fan of AC's ballads even in prior years.
If this reinvigorates AC's career, great. I don't think it really needed reinvigorating, since I think he had found the right combination (loud, fast, and sarcastic). Maybe the new relationship with SPV will mean larger venues and more media attention.
I come at this as an AC fan for decades, having been to the Anaheim Stadium shows in the 70s. Don't disregard this album; just don't think you're getting the second coming.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not my favorite Alice Comment: This album sounds a bit like his first two albums perhaps. It isn't the Alice that I prefer. But then, I'm not a fan of all his work, just a particular era. While this might appeal to the fans of his earlier work, it didn't seem to have the polish and punch as my favorite Alice work. Maybe I was expecting too much, like a return to his "Killer" or "Billion Dollar Babies" era. In either case, it depends on what side of Alice appeals to you. This just wasn't my cup of snake, I suppose.
Customer Rating: Summary: Along came a spider Comment: pretty good album for Alice, it`s getting better every time i listen it.good songs-Vengeance is mine,Catch me if you can, wake the dead and so on...buy it
Customer Rating: Summary: It's ooky and it's spooky... Comment: Steven is alive and....not well. This album harkens back to the days of "Welcome To My Nightmare" and "Dada." I listened to it one night as I was going to sleep and I actually had a nasty nightmare!!! As usual there is a"ballad" ("Killed By Love") which has single potential if radio actually played decent stuff these days. The song "Salvation" kinda sticks out here ("one of these songs is not like the others...". It's kind of like a pinpoint of light but there is so much darkness! If you like Horror plots set to music you'll love this. Definitely clas-SICK Alice!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Comment: This is a great CD it is more like his earlier material. A must for Cooper fans.
