Customer Rating: Summary: Fallen From the Sky?? Comment: I loved it! Seeing them in Minneapolis in a couple months! My only problem is that they didn't perform "Fallen From the Sky" which I love. Other than that, was very good!
Customer Rating: Summary: the swell season - wish it would never end... Comment: If you enjoy quality music of a variety of stripes - new and old style folk, rock and roll, roots music, I promise you you'll enjoy this. This is irresistably good in every way.
My taste usually runs to electronic, ambient, and experimental and some punk and metal, so this is a radical departure for me. I do, however try to appreciate well done music of all kinds. This is definetely the real thing. I was impressed and convinced right away. What great songs! What great performers! Add up to mighty powerful music. Glen Hansard has incredible soul. He summons strong emotions from deep within and delivers them up like jewels snatched from the furnace in cracked raw velvet. Marketa Irglova provides the perfect refined counterpoint with her ethereal voice and light but sharp touch on the piano. There's something emotionally contagious about these two - they almost make you want to cry. I can't say why. This same quality shone through in the film "Once" also. What it is, I don't know, but they have "it". Glen Hansard tells a few stories between songs too - that is a nice surprise and definetely a bonus!
Overall the film is absolutely beautiful to look at. The lighting is gorgeous and every camera angle is interesting - the shooters were spot on throughout. The sound is amazing - very, very high quality for a live show. I almost felt like I was there. I wish I had been. It looks like an intimate show - up close and personal. Wow! Maybe about 200 people? They sure were lucky. The next best thing is this DVD of that experience - which is very very good. World class production and worth every penny.
Customer Rating: Summary: Saw it, liked it Comment: I saw the concert on Ovation TV. If you liked Once, you will like seeing them perform on stage. Easy to listen to.

Known to the world from Indie film sensation "ONCE", THE SWELL SEASON is Irish singer Glen Hansard (of the band The Frames) and Czech newcomer Marketa Irglova. On a Crisp Autumn night shortly before receiving one Acadamy Award and two Grammy Award Nominations for music from "ONCE", the duo performed before an intimate Artists Den audience at the Good Shepherd Center Chapel in Seattle, a historic landmark built in 1906 as a shelter for young wayward or orphaned girls. The Magic of Hansard and Irglova playing together live is captured here for the first time
