Summary: Mediocre Production of a Brilliant Artist
Comment: As a electronica album, it's a failure. You can't add a baseline and repetitive electronic sounds to lyrics and call it techno (well...you can, but that doesn't mean it's good).
I'm not entirely sure what Seal was thinking with the song 'Dumb' It's not a very good word in the first place but despite that, about a quarter of the song is Seal literally singing it over and over again. Also, the word itself seems to have little to do with the other lyrics. It's filler word and for some odd reason Seal decided to title the track after it.
I found the first track and Wedding Day okay but overall the album doesn't stand out lyrically, instrumentally, or vocally. Seal has an amazing voice and is no doubt talented, but it doesn't come through in System.

Summary: Knocked my socks off
Comment: Like many reviewers, I've been a Seal fan since he hit the airwaves. This album was a very nice surprise. For the nay sayers, get over it and LISTEN. Yes, SYSTEM isn't like his other albums; but let go of the predefined expectations and LISTEN. The first time I heard it, my mind went WOW; the music and his voice washed over me and alternately froze and shook me up. There is a lot of layered detail in the music which complements the richness of his voice. Although Wedding Day isn't my favorite - you can hear the joy in Heidi and Seal's voices. I can't get enough of these songs. Addicting and transporting. What else can you ask of music?

Summary: Seriously...just buy it....
Comment: Even the worst Seal albums of the past have not only been worth purchasing, but have all been fantastic. This album is no exception. Seal has produced a seriously good CD that has all of his previous albums interlaced within it. For the record, my favorite Seal album was Human Being. I would rate this as my second favorite album to that one. This is seriously great music and really quite unbelievable that it can be purchased for ten bucks. Buy it, you will not be disappointed. Heck..you get to hear Heidi Klum sing!!!

Summary: Bold and Beautiful
Comment: As a Musician myself I feel more times then NOT, that when an album comes out I'm very critical in judging it. I do not make a final decision till I have had 10 listening sessions with no distractions. I drink in every word/lyric, every instrument, every vibration and let it become a part of me.
This Album is up there with his FIRST & SECOND albums. I personal play several songs off of both and look forward to learning a few off this one too. ~~Beware of trite reviews~~ with 1 and 2 stars regarding this album. If you are a SEAL FAN I think you will find it well rounded and true to SEAL and his music.

I Love this Album and have listened to it over 150 times and will continue to do so. Seal is a modern day Musical Prophet speaking to the very core of your Soul and Spirit, lifting it up and allowing it to carry LOVE and HARMONY forward. That is at the Foundation of this Album. Enjoy it

Some artists mellow as they age; Seal enters never-surrender mode and hits the dance floor. System gets at a new way of thinking for the king of the sexy British croon--he's a little less committed to nailing the vocals here and a lot more into manufacturing a mood. Overall, it's one infused with high spirits and an almost dreamy sense of possibility: "Rolling," the only song outside of a weird duet with wife Heidi Klum ("Wedding Day") to avoid elaborate but likable synths, stands its romantic ground without settling into ho-hum balladry, while "Loaded," "Dumb," and "The Right Life" bust out of the speakers determined to raise the profile of house music and electro beats. If he cribs a vial or two of vibe from Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor,, also produced by retro whiz-kid Stuart Price, it doesn't make Seal any less appealing. Even without hits like the super-smooth "Amazing," some guys manage to be amazing just by showing up. And so it is with Seal. Even his superm! odel wife says so. --Tammy La Gorce
