Customer Rating: Summary: Watch this space....POB PLUS BAMBU coming out Spring 2008 Comment: This is the single best album I've heard bar none in years. And the good news is that it will be available to the public in the May-June time frame of this year.
Dennis Wilson had said all you need to know about him could be found in his music--just listen. From the triumphant choral intro of 'River Blues' to the rocking "What's Wrong' to the haunting 'Thoughts of You' (the most wrenching 3 minutes in pop history). Wilson shifts gears and emotions naturally, with ease, and the result is a harmonic, organic whole--not a note out of place. The beautiful and elegaic 'Farewell my Friend' (written for his brother's father in law) is alone worth the price of admission.
But Wilson rocks out with the almost title track 'Pacific Ocean Blues', enjoys some fun with the light 'You and I'--and the marvelously humble "The End of the Show" is the epitaph Wilson wrote for himself: 'Thank you very much.....for everything I've ever dreamed of...."
Summer will be here soon. Make sure to get a copy of this jewel of an album to get it off to the right start.
Customer Rating: Summary: A MASTERPIECE!!! - WARNING- THIS WILL BE RE-RELEASED MAY 2008! Comment: So do not feel that you have to spend hundreds of dollars for it. In May of 2008 an expanded edition is coming out along with Bamboo material. Dennis was second only to Brian musically and a lot of people have no clue. Beach Boys fans have been waiting for this to happen for years- along with serious musicians and audiophiles everywhere.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pacific Ocean Blue will be re-issued April 15, 2008 with Bonus Comment: Before you pay the $120 - $299 for the "used and new" versions of this brilliant album, you should know that Caribou/Epic/Legacy (Sony/BMG) has announced that they will release a double-CD version of Pacific Ocean Blue on April 15, 2008 and most assuredly will be available here on Amazon. This version will include a second CD with the aborted Bambu/Bamboo album Dennis was working on.
There will be a limited-edition 180g vinyl multi-LP box set available from the always-groovy Sundazed label. Here is the press release from Legacy:

The double-CD PACIFIC OCEAN BLUE: LEGACY EDITION arrives in stores April 15th on Caribou/Epic/Legacy, a division of SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT. Customer Rating: Summary: Remastered 2 CD re-release June 2008!! Comment: Rumours are now confirmed that POB will finally see a 2 CD re-release in June 2008. Extra content has been described as a remastered and remixed Bambu(the originally intended spelling). Other word indicates that there are as many as 10-12 never before heard or bootlegged completed Dennis tracks also available for possible inclusion. Yee Haw!!!
"My music is me. On the album, I did 99% of it myself. All the instruments, all the engineering, the words, the music is mine...and me."
-Dennis Wilson, Epic press release, 1977
"It's a homemade kind of album, without a lot of studio players. Dennis created it as he's gone along, track by track. It was really built in the studio... That's pretty unique.... It's one of the things you don't do. ... Dennis comes into the studio in the morning and stays until he's tired. I think it's innovative in the way it's produced and evolved."
-- Gregg Jakobson, (P.O.B. co-producer), 1977
