Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Great band, poor audio quality. Comment: I am a Marshall Tucker Band fan. I bought most of their albums when they were introduced and have purchased much duplicate music on CD's in recent years. I gave this concert disk set 2 stars because of the poor audio quality. Unfortunately the audio quality of the Carolina Dreams Tour '77 disk set is significantly less than that of the audio CD's containing the band's studio recordings from that era. I own a nice audio system and I appreciate good quality sound. If you have a similar opinion regarding audio quality, you will be disappointed with the disk set. Customer Rating: Summary: Carolina Dreams Tour '77 Comment: Very poor video reproduction. Too dark, even grainy. Music pretty fair except for "24 Hours at a Time", which has no live footage, just a slide show. A much better DVD for my money is MTV's production "Live from the Garden State" recorded in New Jersey in 1980. Customer Rating: Summary: Good, but.... Comment: Stompin Room Only has much better CD sound quality than this one, as does the original live classic Where We All Belong remaster. The DVD is ok but I can't believe they don't have better tapes in the vaults. This may be more for the MTB completist only. Customer Rating: Summary: The Third Live Release From The Original Marshall Tucker Band Is Great Comment: CAROLINA DREAMS: TOUR 77, the third live album to feature the original lineup of the Marshall Tucker Band, is a great double-CD/single-DVD set drawn from the band's tour supporting the studio album CAROLINA DREAMS. On the DVD, which is the only one to feature the original band, you can actually see how brothers Toy (lead guitar) and Tommy (bass guitar) Caldwell feed off of each other to create terrific interplay that obviously influenced many latter-day "jam bands." This set is a must own for anyone who loves rock & roll in general and Southern rock in particular. Customer Rating: Summary: NOT VERY GOOD QUALITY....... Comment: I'VE BEEN A HUGE FAN OF MTB FOR YEARS, HOWEVER I FOUND THIS DVD HARD TO WATCH. THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO PORTION IS AVERAGE AT BEST.OUT OF FOCUS AND SHOT FROM THE SIDE OF THE STAGE ALOT OF THE TIME. IT IS A GOOD HISTORICAL RECORD OF THE BAND BUT I WOULDN'T EXPECT MUCH MORE. THE QUALITY OF THIS BOX SET SMELLS OF QUICK MONEY FOR THE ESTATES OF THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS. THE OTHER DVD OF THEM IS NOT AS LONG BUT IS A BETTER. More Reviews
Editorial Reviews: Although The Marshall Tucker Band is famous for its live prowess, there has never been a DVD featuring the original lineup of the band--until now. Carolina Dreams Tour '77 captures MTB onstage performing their biggest hits: "Heard It In A Love Song," "Fire On The Mountain," "Can't You See" and many more. In addition to the DVD, this 3-disc set also contains the same concert spread across two CDs. Either way, it's awonderful slice of MTB in its early prime.
