Comment: I have 3 other albums by Soul Ballet, but I'd have to say this one is definitely the best yet. I didn't care much for the voices in "Dream Beat Dream" but on this one, the voices actually add to some of the songs. Of the 11 songs on the album, there is only one that I usually skip and that's "da da Diamonds." That's excellent when you enjoy 10 of 11 songs on an album. And the more I listen to it, the more I keep switching my favorite songs. At first it was "Smooth Vegas" then "Tuscan Chica," but now it's "Every Time You're Near" which has voices in the background that add to the song. As for the sound, it's hard to describe. Maybe "Cool Smooth Jazz." Rick Kelly manages to produce intoxicating music with a beat and the effect is very relaxing. I highly recommend this album. Love it! Customer Rating: Summary: More smooth electronica from Soul Ballet Comment: Another great CD from Soul Ballet. All the usual stuff is here: smooth jazz, electronica, dance, even a slight fusion of techno on the side. Highly recommended, despite the 'message' from Mr. Soul Ballet himself inside the cover, which is without doubt one of the most pretentious (and unintentionally hilarious) things I've ever read. Customer Rating: Summary: Fun Music. Comment: This CD defies classification. I don't know if its smooth jazz, dance techno or disco. Regardless, its fun music with a great recording. The compositions are quite interesting, and this artist has made a style defining CD which has shades of the sound of Paul Hardcastle with better instruments. I highly recommend this purchase for those who like smooth jazz and borderline dance music. This is really good stuff, indeed. Customer Rating: Summary: One song . . . Comment: It took a while to understand that LAVISH - in full caps and pink type - was not only the title of this great album, but also the title track. On first hearing this album, one thought dominated my mind: "What is THAT song?" The song Lavish, track 4, is hypnotic. It draws one in like a moth to a flame. The rest of the album is enjoyable and diverse, but LAVISH - the song - demands repeat performances! Customer Rating: Summary: Good Background Music Comment: The recording quality of this CD is outstanding and 5 stars. One song, "da da Diamonds" is awesome too, which is my reason for purchasing this CD. I have never heard of this band/group before. I heard "da da Diamonds" on XM radio. The rest of the songs sound like your standard run of the mill, not that it's bad but there is nothing that stands out from anything that anyone else is doing production-wise. I always look for something unique in musicianship as I have been a musician and audiophile for many years. As I said, my outlook doesn't mean this CD is bad. You may find it all unique and new but from my standpoint, its either good driving music when I'm traveling, good background music when entertaining guest or maybe even good doctor's office music.
