Customer Rating: Summary: Quit System of a Down Comment: This is the album that System of a Down should have released after Toxicity. Instead, they've released three brutally terrible albums (Hypnotize, Mesmerize, Steal This!), and now they have finally went on hiatus. My advice to Serj: You dont need System of a Down. This album sounds similiar to System of a Down but improves in all the areas that was making SOAD sound so incredibly dumbed down. Everything works on this album. Each song is catchy but also incorporates originality. You will hear politics on this album but what do you expect? At least you don't have to hear that horrendous attempt at singing by that guitarist in System of a Down. Tons of pianos, violins, orchestras, african instruments.....and yes.....guitars! There's some frantic screaming on this album by Serj but most of it includes Serj singing some really nice harmonies. If you liked System of a Down but thought there past two or three releases were just utter crap, then I suggest you purchase this album. Odds are you will be repeating the same advice I present to Serj: Quit SOAD!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great CD. Comment: This is an awesome CD. Serj has a great voice and does well on this solo album. He is very talented and the CD is highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good, not fantastic. Comment: I liked a lot of the stuff on the album, but it left me comparing it to System of a Down in a "middle-of-the-barrel" of their songs kinda way.
Overall, a decent album.
Customer Rating: Summary: Better than SOAD? Comment: Well, it seems that most artists find a niche and can't move out of it. Thank god for that, then! This is just a liiiiiitle bit different than System Of A Down's last offerings and in a lot of ways similar. And again, thank god for that too, because waiting several years (or more) to another "mezmerizing" or "hypnotizing" project by SOAD would be too much...
This CD is well worth buying because there is not a weak song on the album and quite a few gems...
Customer Rating: Summary: Woah Serj!!!! Comment: Serj's new solo CD rocks my world. He touches on great political issues and his songs have great meaning. That, and we still get the same loony voice and lyrics as we did with SOAD. I would give this CD a 10 if I could. The music itself without lyrics is awesome. A great add if you're a SOAD fan. Heck, a great add even if you aren't! Serj has made his own mark in the music industry with this CD. It's great that he can hold himself up seperately from the guys in SOAD. Go Serj!!!!!!!!!!
