Customer Rating: Summary: Another great Duarte CD Comment: So many blues guitar players have disappointed me by going commercial or off the deep end (Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang etc.). I guess they do this to make more money. I can't blame them, however, the music is not up to par. So far, Chris Duarte has been super consistent. This is another excellent blues CD. If you like any of his earlier music, you are sure to like this CD. Sometimes it takes a few times through a CD to really get into it. This was great from the first time I listened to it. His show in Manhattan at Hill Country BBQ was the best performance I have ever witnessed. I have seen KWS 3 times and he was my favorite guitar player....Move over Kenny...Duarte is a nice guy too...he took the time to autograph many CDs at the show.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great guitar, lousy songs Comment: I have been a fan of Duarte for a long time and I waited anxiously for the delivery of this cd. His playing is remarkable; Beyond the other comparisons I heard some Robin Trower influence in the later tunes of the album, however the songs were so mediocre I was very disappointed overall.
Customer Rating: Summary: The only Duarte album you need Comment: Most reviewers here have mentioned that this is the best album from Chris Duarte since "Texas Sugar Strat Magic". I couldn't agree more. To be honest, I really only loved the song "Just kissed my baby" from that album. Sure, the other songs were good, but at times, I found it lacked a little in variety. I actually saw his debut gig in London in 1995 and his finale of a Hendrix song was a highlight. His other albums though, I found to be very patchy indeed. "Blue Velocity" is an outstanding piece of Blues Rock brilliance that takes you to S.R.V territory with 'Something wicked' then moves to classic era Robin Trower in 'Sun Prairie Blues' and next song 'Never gonna change' rocks out like his old jamming partner, Ted Nugent. Next song 'R U 4 Real' is a Hendrixy styled slower tune whilst the basic 12 bar blues of 'Leave her be' had me thinking back to one of my old fave original bluesers, Jimmy Reed. Definitely no fillers on this disc. Thumbs up to the guitar guru i.e. Michael Varney for giving Chris the self belief to deliver such a Classic as this.
Customer Rating: Summary: Blues like a dream Comment: Chris Duarte plays the blues like a dream!
I'll never get tired of listening to Chris!
Customer Rating: Summary: There's Better Stuff Out There... Comment: Expected more than some good guitar chops. Being able to play notes/chords/riffs, etc., does not an album make. No memorable tunes, mediocre melody skills. Mr. Duarte needs seasoning...come back next album. Meanwhile, upgrade and lend an ear to, say,...Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa, Jim Thackery, for starters. With all due respect.

Blue Velocity is a record which aptly showcases many sides of this brilliant artist in the context of high energy blues-rock with moments that bring to mind legendary artists as diverse as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Johnson. Duarte has made the kind of guitar-driven blues record that fans have been waiting for.
