Customer Rating: Summary: REALLY GOOD. PRODUCT WAS LIKE NEW Comment: THE SERVICE WAS PROMPT AND THE PRODUCT WAS LIKE NEW. I RECOMEND THIS USER'S PRODUCTS.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent! Comment: In an environment of free speech it is expected that someone would say something negative about this album. I must disagree strongly, Marc Anthony shows and shares the wonderful gift that has been given to him.
As they say "imitaion is the sincerest form of flattery". Somone else said it best when they said that Hector lavoe would be proud of Marc Athony.
This album sounds great, and if you like Lavoe, you will not be let down if you get this cd.
Customer Rating: Summary: Now that's Groovy Comment: Every time the CD goes on we can't help but start wiggling. It's a really well mixed CD and full of groovy tunes. Highly recommend it!
Customer Rating: Summary: Does marc Anthony sound like Hector Lavoe?NAH!! Comment: I was lucky enough to have seen Hector live many times. The El Cantante CD was 100% Marc Anthony...which isn't bad because Marc is a good singer in his own right.I cannot put he and Hector in the same category.Marc did the best "Marc" he could, when it came to some of the songs...he tried to give it a Hector Lavoe flavor, which was ok.In no way shape or form did he sound like Hector. His Che Che Cole was HORRIBLE!!!I did love his version of El Cantante,he gave me goose bumps near the end of the song, made me "Feel it".His two slow songs{boleros} were very romantic.I had never heard Hectors version of these two, they are beautiful and bring me to tears everytime!I recommend the Cd.By the way, skip the last song..it's Jennifer and it's terrible.
Customer Rating: Summary: If you love the genre, its a great album. Comment: I bought this album for my wife and she loves it. If you are into Marc Anthony and his style, this album is fantastic. You don't need to have seen the film to enjoy it.
The only complaint was that its only like 39 minutes.

There will likely be lots of scoffing at Marc Anthony's interpretation--both on disc and onscreen--of late salsa singer Hector Lavoe. But let's not forget that Anthony is a salsa superstar in his own right. He has anchored some of the genre's most thrilling moments and has taken salsa to audiences not normally exposed to the sweltering sound. The El Cantante soundtrack is a solid effort, notable for Anthony's dedication to recreating Lavoe's distinct delivery and phrasing. He puts aside his own emotive stylings for a more subdued performance on several tracks, including the celebratory "Mi Gente" and the mournful "Escandalo." Anthony is virtually unrecognizable during "Che Che Cole," "Quitate," and the standout "Que Lio," which makes the project all the more intriguing. Jennifer Lopez, Anthony's wife in real life and onscreen in El Cantante, croons pensive closing ballad "Toma de Mi." Even without the film, the soundtrack stands as an earnest homage to a tragic icon. --Joey Guerra
