Customer Rating: Summary: Boring singer/songwriter. Comment: Coco by Colbie Caillat is a bland and uninspired disc. Colbie has a decent voice but there is no power in it, I was expecting so much more from this young artist but this album is not a standout. All the songs sound the same, boring vocals and clumsy guitar playing. Bubbly and Realize make me want to fall asleep. If you want an exciting new artist then I suggest Sara Bareilles, at least her voice and music won't make you comatose.
Customer Rating: Summary: nice but overrated Comment: I'm a long-time Fleetwood Mac fan. I was curious what Ken Caillat's daughter was up to.
There are some pretty songs on this album, but the word cliche (i.e. heard that before) crosses my mind often.
I particularly like "Battle". That one is really good. The other songs range from nice to boring.
It's disturbing so many (young and inexperienced?) people give this album a 5 star rating. They obviously don't know how to value this album against other music.
I'd give it 3 and a half stars. IMHO that's a realistic rating.
Customer Rating: Summary: COCO Comment: Coco
This young Lady has made a sweet and breezy CD. I enjoy it very much
Customer Rating: Summary: Coco Comment: This album really fit into the category of music that I really admire. I listen to it regularly. I also felt that I made a great purchase at a great price. The album could probably use a little more information on thye genre of music before buying. A little detail would help in decision making.
Customer Rating: Summary: Addicting Comment: It's rare I come across an album that I just can't stop listening to. I love every song on this album and sometimes just can't turn Colbie off. She has a very smooth sultry voice with a poppy, uplifting beat behind it that's just different and makes you feel uplifted when you listen. The songs all flow together beautifully and have great lyrics. Her music probably most reminds me of Jason Mraz because of the excellent beat behind it, but it's much slower and more towards the pop/rock genre. I can't say enough good things about this album. I can't wait for her next one!

Even without MySpace, singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat is sure to have found an audience, but her oft-accessed page accelerated the process, mostly on the strength of the effervescent "Bubbly." On her first full-length album, the California native conjures up clear skies and warm breezes. Not that the lyrics revolve around her stomping grounds of Malibu and Ventura County, but her mellow melodies sound like products of those places (co-writer Jason Reeves' ukulele playing reinforces the beach music impression). Instead, Caillat sings about love in all its guises, as on "Capri," a tribute to a mother-to-be. The daughter of audio engineer Ken Caillat (Fleetwood Mac's Rumours), who provides production assistance, Colbie combines acoustic pop, light jazz, and blue-eyed soul on Coco. Despite her young age--22 at the time of its release--the record seems likely to attract an older audience, although her sunny singing manages to sound centered and spirited at the same time. Coco doesn't offer anything startlingly new, but its relaxing vibe is hard to resist. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
