Summary: awesome cd
Comment: The songs on this cd were uplifting. Please aquaint yourself with this band. My 15 year old daughter loves this cd and at 15 you never like the same music as your mother. (gasp) a great buy for years to come because you will still be listening to it.

Summary: Good Songs
Comment: One or two good songs with some screamo/hard rock/alternative/punk. Listen to "Say this sooner" and "Copy other people" a fairly good band for those with hard rock taste without the hard rock lyrics.

Summary: VERY GOOD!
Comment: I believe this is the drummer for Underoath's solo project. It's a great Cd with witty track names and solid songs. I really like Amazing Because It Is, that incorporates Amazing Grace. Others I like are Dirty and Left Out and Everyone Here Smells Like a rat. This is not scream-o so if you don't like Underoath, you will still like this!

Summary: Nice Try.
Comment: Ok, so here I was driving on my way to San Diego, CA, after having just bought this cd on a whim, along with a few others. I needed some new music to listen to so I wouldn't be bored. I immediately popped in this cd because I thought it would be a good cd or maybe at least a decent attempt in music. I had already deemed this cd to be ok, really not knowing anything about the band, who they are, what they sounded like... Everything was ok, until the third track of the cd, "Dirty and Left Out". As soon as this track started playing, immediately I thought this was a Christian band. But I continued to listen, hoping that it would get better. Unfortunately it did not. I had to take this cd out because as it became increasingly evident to me, that, yes, this is a Christian band. Upon reaching my destination, I researched this band a little, and my suspicions were confirmed.

This is a good cd, may it be the first for Aaron Gillespie. I would have to say this is a fine first attempt. The music is good, the beats are ok, a little heavy on the bass sometimes, but the constant references to "Jesus, god, saviour, master", dissuade the listener from wanting to listen anymore; unless Christian music is the genre you have an affinity for. Perhaps it will do well, maybe in the Christian community. But, I will have to say that there are no redeeming qualities to this album if you don't like Christian music. All I have to say is, don't buy it.

Summary: Great work from an excellent artist
Comment: The Almost is an amazing work of art. He stays true to his roots (Underoath, his other band) yet burns his own musical path. His music is edgy and catchy, delivering excellent messages with every line. The songs stick with you well after you've put the cd away.

Editorial Reviews:

Aaron Gillespie is a man obsessed. Whether he's out in front of The Almost, his new, eagerly anticipated rock-based project, or behind the drum kit for Underoath, the Clearwater, Florida-bred songwriter/musician can't help but throw himself into everything he does.

With Southern Weather, The Almost lets Gillespie put a different, more melodic side of himself on display. Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his idol Dave Grohl, who stepped out from behind his drum kit to capture the rock world's hearts as one of the genre's most visible frontmen, Gillespie has begun a metamorphosis.

The disc's commanding opening track and first single, "Say This Sooner," introduces the album with an attention grabbing, percussion-driven anthem. "I grew up in the Deep South," Gillespie says of the urgent, hook-fostered opener. "Like anyone, I've had struggles along the way. But I am very much informed by Southern values and I think the songs speak to that."

Between his own duties out in front of The Almost and Underoath's touring and recording schedules, Aaron Gillespie is fully committed until 2008. For now, he's a firm believer in his ability to balance both. "Underoath is extremely special to me," he says of the group he co-founded in 1998 which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Album Chart with June 2006's Define The Great Line.

"Southern Weather has got a much broader scope," he continues. "From a 12 year old listening to her iPod on the school bus to a 38-year old guy commuting on a train, I'm excited by the fact that this album can find an audience with a lot of different people."
