Customer Rating: Summary: Superb, with flair Comment: With wonderful mixing, LF puts two superb sets of tracks together to make a musical bonanza. This is true dance music, for dancing or listening, in its highest form. It holds well together from the beginning and all the way through both Cd 1 and Cd 2. Cd 1 has a mellow flair with beauty and genius emerging through the 7th track of Acca's 'Rain'. 'Highlights' keeps the music uplifted, in varying forms, which continues through the remainder of the cd. Cd2 is a blend of sheer happiness all the way. Sixteen months after buying this cd, its still a real favourite. Lf epitomises the best in musical creations. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: 2nd best album of 2007 Comment: This is hot. Luke fair brings the funk back to house. The first disc is cleverly put together and great for that inner listen, but when you want to party, throw disc 2 on and a circus will pop out. I'm not kidding you, the way he put this album together is unreal, some of the best house music next to my boy Zabiela and Nic. But both have created unpredictable gems. Very nice.
Customer Rating: Summary: LUKE FAIR... FINALLY! Comment: I should be ashamed for not having written this sooner. I buy a great number of cds every year and this one was my absolute favorite of the last year. It is not that there aren't very good cds from the last year, (there are) it is just that this was the first of the Balance series that really fulfills the promise that was made by earlier works.
The fact is that the other Balance cds are a bit monotonouos to me...annoyingly so. The cds started off well, but the tunes were so much alike, that by the end of the cds I found that, not only had I ceased listening, but I couldn't remember what I had heard. Luke brings that curse to an end for me.
The first cd starts of with some very etherial sounds: tunes that might be used in a movie for a particulatly pleasing dream sequence. He then slowly brings you down to earth with some sweet, jazzy funk. By the second cd, the funk comes full on with some deliciously cleaver and creative keyboard work that keeps me paying attention at all times.
I have found myself playing this set over and over, which no other Balance set has ever gotten me to do, and I never seem to tire of it. Somewhere between Tiesto and Cattaneo sits Luke Fair. In short: Fair's cds tickled my innards and carved a new groove in my, "booteh"!
Thanks!!
I hope he beings us more magic in the future.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome mix Comment: First CD is a little more mellow but amazing, and second CD will have you dancing the whole time. Perfect mix from an awesome DJ. definitely one of my favorite mixes of all time, and definitely the best of 2007.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hear It. Comment: Very few times i think in my head "I'm gonna love this" just by hearing the first 10 min. of a set; but a little of these few times i say,"I really love it" in the last 10 min. of it. With this release It happened.
Incredibly there's more than one style of house music in this one, but it still sounded like a whole (You would say this is the job of any dj, but it doesn't always happens this way). The upgrades made to the tracks and layered sounds fit flawlessly. For the sake of your electronic Knowledge. Don't Think it, just hear it.
