Summary: too bad... so sad
Comment: I LOVE Allison Kraus... but this CD stinks... its sooooo dark about death and sadness... really a bummer album. It has a couple tracks that are on the Cold Mountain CD.. buy that instead... skip this one.

Summary: Slightly disappointing
Comment: I am a new fan of Allison's, and I must admit, I was disappointed by this album. I found the whole thing to be slow and depressing. There were a few good songs, but mostly all the songs have the same slow tune and melody. I would not recommend this. It is definitely NOT bluegrass.

Summary: Anther AK Classic
Comment: Like all of Allison's CD's, I buy them on faith (since I can never hear any of her awesome music on today's crummy radio & video stations) and once again get rewarded with another 5 Star CD. She's not capable of turning out an inferior product. As an FYI, if you're looking for a mix of Allison and Union Station, I can tell you this CD is skewed way toward Allision, with more emphasis on her vocals than on her fiddle.

Summary: Amazing Grace-I Love You Alison Krauss
Comment: This is such a great collection of songs sung by Alison Krauss and some with her friends. Many of these songs are ballads with sad stories but Alison's voice rings clear as you hear her vocal range ring pure as mountain springs and you just feel her presence in the room through a good stereo system. I just cannot get enough of this clear clean sound as it is masterfully reproduced on this compact disc. Very Highly Recommended by The TimeKeeper.

Summary: Luscious!
Comment: This album is just luscious from the first track to the last. I cannot get the songs out of my head and I cannot take the disc out of the player. The engineering is just as luscious as the music. Warm, rich and soulful. "Get me through December" is beautiful and a favorite. BTW I read a review that stated that it was too slow. That's fine. This album is for us that dont like a bunch of "hot damn, give it a slam" noise.

Editorial Reviews:

A Hundred Miles or More carries the subtitle A Collection, and what a curious collection it is--cuts from soundtracks, side projects, and tribute albums, plus guest duets on other artists' albums and five previously unreleased tracks. In other words, this is a collection of Alison Krauss performances that have never appeared on an Alison Krauss album, though it holds together better than such a grab-bag approach might suggest. Highlights such as her duet with Brad Paisley on "Whiskey Lullaby" and her a cappella rendition of "Down to the River to Pray" from O Brother, Where Art Thou? will be familiar to most Krauss fans, though it's doubtful that many share her infatuation with retro rocker John Waite (with whom she revives his "Missing You" and duets on a cover of Don Williams's "Lay Down Beside Me."). Other projects represented range from Disney to the Chieftains to the Louvin Brothers (she duets with James Taylor on their "How's the World Treating You." There's minimal contribution from her Union Station band--making this a solo release by default--and little information to indicate whether the previously unreleased tracks were outtakes from earlier releases or recently recorded for this one. --Don McLeese
