Customer Rating: Summary: A blast from the past.... Comment: Anyone who followed Grace Jones in the 80's needs to reconnect with this collection. Worth every penny!
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing Grace Comment: God, I LOVE grace Jones. She is a true original. Her voice, her persona - one of a kind. This is a great collection of her work and worth getting, but why can't we get something new? The world needs some new grace!
Customer Rating: Summary: Ladies and Gentlemen, Here's GRACE!!! Comment: GRACE JONES THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION is a great 3-cd set for die-hard Grace fans. Although all of the material has been previously released, the 32-bit remastering is what makes this collection worth the price.
The first cd covers the 70s (and part of the 80s) and include "La Vie En Rose" and "I Need A Man." Both songs remastered and in their entirety and sound fantastic! Also on cd #1 "Do Or Die" and "Fame" among others, which have not been released on remastered compilations like Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions.
CD #2 covers the 80s and includes "I'm Not Perfect," "Victor Should Have Been A Jazz Musician," and "Love On Top Of Love"--again not available on previous compilations.
CD #3 is compiled from various cuts from Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions with the exception of "Sex Drive" that was released as a single.
Great set for fans who are familiar with Jones's work and want remastered tracks, but for the uninitiated I would suggest Island Life. That compliation has most of Grace's standards and is much cheaper. It'll give you a taste without breaking the bank.
Also included, small booklet with Jones bio and description/info of albums and tracks. (GRACE JONES THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION is made by Universal Music which also did Donna Summer: The Ultimate Collection)
Customer Rating: Summary: Very pleased! Comment: I was a great fan of Grace Jones back in the '70's, so I was very pleased to find this collection digitally remastered.
This vendor filled my order and shipped it immediately. I would not hesitate to do business with them again.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Grace Jones collection out there so far Comment: Grace Jones is one of the most unique music artists out there. She's certainly not everybody's cup of tea, but you can't deny that some of her music is intriguing and inventine, and that voice -- nobody can sing quite like Jones with that fiery, throaty voice.
The Ultimate Collection is the best Grace Jones collection out there, and there are several Jones compilations on the market. This one basically covers most of her career including her version of "La Vie En Rose", and other favorites such as "I Need A Man", "Love is the Drug", "Slave to the Rhythm", and it's one of the first Jones collections to feature fan favorite "I'm Not Perfect (But I'm Perfect for You)", a glossy pop song from the mid-'80s.
If you're only a casual fan of Jones, this may not be ideal for you. After all, it's three CDs and rather expensive, so you may be better sticking with a budget collection. More serious fans will probably want more than even what this offers, but I think this is as close as we'll get to a Grace Jones box set.
