Customer Rating: Summary: Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll!! Comment: Man, I've been a fan of Jamiroquai since the first album, technically because I heard the first single from the second album first. Then, while at The Fugees concert waiting for Goodie Mob to start the show back in 1995 in Boulder, the theater was playing, "Emergency..." over the sound system. I was like who the hell is this singing?! It reminded me of some stuff old heads used to play when I was younger. Cool vibe to it, but couldn't pronounce the name. Well, the classics didn't stop there, evidentially, because High Times is one of the BEST best of collections made! I bought it because of the more edgy single version of "Space Cowboy" and it's the unedited version! After my first listen, I went back and pick one CD I didn't like very much and realized I didn't give "Funk Oddessy" hardly a chance. I can't get "Love Foolosophy" outta my head and it was on that album. I'm givin' another chance. The last two songs on here are the new joints and maybe a glimpse of what's to come from Jason and the band. This is an excellent collection of singles and I hope to hear more from them soon.
BTW, if you've ever heard of Vaughn Mason (mostly known for a cut called "Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll,") try listening back at that cut from back in the day and tell me Jay Kay don't sound a lot more like Vaughn than Stevie Wonder. It would make more sense, too, because that was a funky disco jam. It's okay to compare Jay with the legendary Stevie, that makes him great, also. Just listen to the song and leave me a comment or two.
A quick recommendation for you to listen to if you haven't heard 'em yet. Check out a '70's band called Real Thing, also from London. These guys, I believe, may be one of Jamiroquai's biggest influences. I listened to the best of album yesterday and was impressed. Didn't know much about them until now, but the second CD in this anthology is really good! Pick it up, you won't be upset. Children of the Ghetto: The Pye Anthology
Customer Rating: Summary: Disco is not dead Comment: A few of his better hits were missing, but most of them were there. It's still a good introduction to Jamiroquai for a novice, and a bargin for the quantity of tracks.
Customer Rating: Summary: A must have for non-Jamiroquai hardcore fan Comment: I'm not a die hard jamiroquai fan. I own 3 Jamiroquai albums. And I should say it's a great CD to have if you want all the radio hits. This is what you need in your car or your trip. Although Virtual Insanity isn't the album's long version, everything else is perfect. No Jay Kay or the band's photo in the booklet if you're looking forward for some pictures.
Customer Rating: Summary: Funky no matter what their color of skin... Comment: This is one hell of Funkdified Adventure...Jay Kay is one of the most interesting characters i've ever run across...compare him to many but pin him on none. This entire collection is Funky, Danceable, and sad at the fact that Jay Kay ( Lead of the band) has apparantly quit the music buisness sighting a loss of his inspiration and a longing for a famliy, namely children. This is by and far the best collection of Jam's hits, an overall if you will...yes a true is going to buy the individual albums, no one will blame you. My only complaint is that a few tracks were cut short namely "Alright"...but it's cool, i have the single. Lyrics are a bit out there but very honest and the music has BALLS, they weren't trying to be like every other group and they've had staying power...hopefully we'll see the return of the space cowboy...my fav's are "Virtual Insanity", "Alright", and "little L"...o'h who am i kidding i LOVE the whole thing!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Jamiroquai Rocks!! Comment: This CD is the best one I have ever purchased. All of the selections are great. I only wish it came with the videos, then I would be in heaven.

With a voice like Stevie Wonder, a production sound that recalls the string-laden, slinky-bass disco of Studio 54, and a penchant for funky dance moves and outlandish hats, Jamiroquai's Jay Kay has successfully managed to straddle the underground and mainstream for the best part of 15 years. High Times brings together 19 of his band's hits to date, ranging from early 90s acid jazz classics "When You Gonna Learn," "Too Young To Die," and "Blow Your Mind," to later successes such as "Canned Heat," "Cosmic Girl," "Virtual Insanity," and on to recent songs from 2005 album Dynamite, such as "Feels Just Like It Should" and "7 Days In Sunny June." There are also two new tracks--the current single "Runaway" and the edgier "Radio," both of which continue the Jamiroquai tradition of mildly euphoric dancefloor disco-soul. Despite sticking to a formula of sorts over the years, the songs on this collection compliment each other well and form an impressive overview of one of the UK's most distinctive bands. --Danny McKenna
