Customer Rating: Summary: beautiful voice, save some cash for coffee Comment: I have been a fan of Ceu since hearing her perform in NYC. Her voice ranks among the best female singers in Brazil (a tough act to follow). I listen often to this CD. The production is first-rate and does justice to her vocal talent. I saw this CD at the well-known national coffee outlet, but Amazon sold it for half-price, which left me some change to buy coffee.
Customer Rating: Summary: Ceu Comment: I really dont know why I bought this cd as it turned out to be wrong for my taste. Its a tad poppy for me but Im sure she has many, many fans out there but Im not one of them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice, nice, nice Comment: I bought this CD since the sampler sounded tempting.
Once it arrived I listened to it and I found something curious: I had to listen to it a couple of times before I finally got it.
It's not that I didn't liked it. I enjoyed it a lot, but it was not that easy to "get".
If you are into Brazilian music as much as I am you'll probably think that nothing new can be found, but, you are -as I was- wrong.
This is, indeed, something new. It's not Bossa Nova, but it's close. It's not Electro, but it's close. It's not jazz, but it's close.
It's CéU. I can't find other way to describe it.
It's something different, highly recommended for those who like experiencing new music...
Customer Rating: Summary: Great CD Comment: This is a great singer, love the songs and Amazon did a good job with the fast shipping.
Customer Rating: Summary: Incredible Comment: I first heard this CD on the way to Brazil. I met a guy in the plane and he had the songs on his iPod! I fell in love with it for the first time!!! I love all songs! First I did not like her English on the Bob Marley song, but then I heard the song played by Bob Marley and I prefer with hear singing!!! Her voice is beautiful, the words are very sweet!!! I highly recommend this CD. In Brazil almost nobody knows about this CD. Thanks Starbucks or I would never heard this CD!

It's no surprise that Starbucks is behind Brazilian chanteuse CéU's self-titled debut disc. (A co-release with the ever-tasteful Six Degrees Records.) The slinky, soulful sounds would be right at home amid mocha frapuccinos and lattes with extra foam. But CéU is more than a mere coffee-club cutie. Her sexy, assured vocals infuse every song with a come-hither vibe, from the playful "Rainha" to the simmering "10 Contados." The disc also showcases a slightly funky, urban sensibility; and electronic flourishes amplify the modern feel. "Vinheta Dorival" segues from standard guitar licks into gentle percussion rhythms. And a cover of Bob Marley's "Concrete Jungle" is elegant and effortless. Though originally released overseas in 2005, CéU's captivating collection still rings with truth and vibrancy. A truly caffeinated experience. --Joey Guerra
