Customer Rating: Summary: Great debut Comment: I have to say that this band is a breath o fresh air. A lot of bands now of days have somewhat of a depressing and violent tone in their music, but Black Stone just has a good time and lets the music flow with passion and great talent.
Customer Rating: Summary: good tunes because... Comment: I was trying to figure out why I liked these guys so much. they are the Rich Littles of rock...Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, and a couple of bands I've heard but can't identify...yeah, they're good. It's weird to like them because they emulate others so well, but that's it, I like them cuz they sound like the stuff I like...
Customer Rating: Summary: Killer sound! Comment: This is one of the best albums to come along in a while. From the sound of the guitar to the vocals, everything is spot on. This record will grow on you like no other, from the killer riff in "Backwoods Gold" to the closer "Rollin' On", you just can't go wrong.
Customer Rating: Summary: This can't possibly be as good as it is... Comment: Ok, I bought this album because I'd heard Rain Wizard and thought it was great. I thought I'd maybe play the rest of the album once.
After I'd played it about three times I sat back and told myself that it couldn't possibly be that good. If I play it again I'll start getting sick of it.
So I played it again. No luck - I still thought it was great.
I don't know how to categorize it. Maybe they've done the impossible and put together the first album that could have a #1 song in heavy metal and #1 in Nashville at the same time. And I don't mean that in a bad way - I'm anything but a country music fan. I think Nashville might listen to these guys and say - "we've gotta get us some of that" and admit that they've been missing the boat for all of these many years...
Customer Rating: Summary: Simply the best hard rock album in years...no doubts! Comment: Nice blend of hard rock, southern influenced metal. Great stuff. A nice change from the usual thrash, rap influenced new metal garbage thats been released over the past 10 years. These guys are definitely a throwback. Very good musicians. The band is tight. If I could boldly make a comparison I'd say Zakk's Pride & Glory band (ealry nineties).
My only question...when's the next release! Then we can tell if these guys are for real or not.

On this debut album from Kentucky born BLACK STONE CHERRY you can hear their influences including Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Black Sabbath, but also a heavy side touching more in a Black Label Society vein. The track "Lonely Train" is gaining traction at radio. The track is produced by Richard Young of the Kentucky Headhunters, who is also the father of drummer John Fred Young. With songs about moonshine smuggling, rain wizards and women, how can you go wrong?
