Customer Rating: Summary: Henry Cho Comment: Very clean humor, such a rarity these days. Is a great choice for a good laugh. The entire family has a good time watching Henry. Now, if he will only come to town so we can see him Live!
Customer Rating: Summary: Henry Cho Comment: The DVD of Henry Cho was as good as I thought it would be. I would recommend it!
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good. Comment: I have to admit, there's nothing else in this special that's as funny as the one joke I remembered (J only, B only), but it's a pretty entertaining DVD nonetheless.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hilarious!!! Comment: I think Henry Cho has been over looked and under rated. I saw him several years ago on a late night talk show and thought he was great. Then I didn't hear any more about him. While channel surfing cable one night, I stumbled upon this performance. I've never forgotten "jonly bonly". I am from a small town in Kentucky and I swear I know this guy. You have to be from the south or familiar with red-neck life style to really appreciate this guy. He is so original, and his comedy is so honest. I'm sure a lot of his humor comes from real life experiences, 'cause like he says, you can't make this stuff up. Keep on keepin' on Mr. Cho, and bring us more of your specialty. America needs more laughter, and by the way the way this guy is squeaky clean, no smut needed.
Customer Rating: Summary: Unfortunately it is slow, not enough humor, lacks refreshing material. Comment: Taped in 2005 surprises me, because I really like Henry Cho when I first saw him in the 90s. But with this DVD comic show, I was disappointed. Yes, he is slow paced, and I accept that, but there is very little entertaining humor.
The comic act was lacking fresh material! We have long heard about the marriage jokes, the pregnancy and kid stuff. That has been hashed about for years and years. What he brought was nothing fresh. The in-law family humor was unoriginal and unfunny, been there, done that, heard that!! In other words, if the inlaws aren't worthy of exciting funny material,.... can 'em.
Along with the slow pace, the structure of the act lacked interest. Too often, he uses filler talk, you know, the repetition of phrases just to fill time. This makes the act slower and less interesting. Every word a comedian says, should be important, if not, use filler time.
The audience was lackluster over the performance. But I guess if you have a bunch of Tennesseans, this might be for suitable for them. Otherwise, this slow-paced, unoriginal marital, family-type humor would not fly elsewhere.
As much as I wanted to hear Henry Cho, this was a downer! ....MzRizz

"I'm an Asian with a Southern accent," remarks Cho. "To a lot of people, that right there is funny." Always making the most of who he is, Cho recently inked a deal to co-create and star in his own sitcom based on his life as a Korean-American born and raised in Tennessee. You will be able to see him in his own one-hour comedy special What's That Clickin' Noise?
