Summary: Never Surpassed
Comment: One of the best hard rock albums of all time. This album and the Stooges 1st album (self titled) are rock masterpieces. Iggy Pop et al do it good on this album.

Summary: killer diller
Comment: We all know this is one of the greatest records of all times. If you're not a psycho fanatic (like me) and didn't get the huge Complete Funhouse sessions box this has most of the unreleased highlights. If you're new to the band, get this version. The remastered sound is much improved.
And don't forget to check out Mighty High...In Drug City.

Summary: Musical anarchy starts here!
Comment: This is THE greatest record ever recorded! I wore out three copies on vinyl before I finally purchased the CD. The noise, chaos, and machismo that this record produces is first rate. Bravo to the Stooges for refusing to play the free-loving hippie crap that plauged the air waves in 1970, and uncompromisingly played the music they wanted, and said: "To hell with everyone else. It's us against the world." And they conquered. They started the punk revolution long before it even began. As the title for my review states: musical anarchy starts here, and it truly does.

Summary: Rudimentary Proto-Punk Sonic Torture
Comment: The Stooges are one of those bands that makes me scratch my head and reach for the eject button. I can respect them for their pure rock and roll spirit, but musically they are rudimentary and almost unlistenable. I love heavy music from this era, but I don't understand why so many bands and critics celebrate this utterly untalented group. I know this isn't classical music, but when you listen to bands like Black Sabbath from the same era, you realize that it is possible to be both heavy/hard rocking and musically interesting. I would love for someone to explain why the hipper-than-thou music intelligentsia find this kind of garage music innovative but show absolutely no respect for a massively influential band like Black Sabbath. I'm sure watching Iggy Pop expose himself live is a great rock and roll experience, but listening to his albums is pure sonic torture. I went through my punk phase too, but it all basically sounds like rubbish to me now while classic heavy metal has aged like fine wine. My advice to readers: avoid this group and their ilk like a musical plague (unless you enjoy the plague). Rock on!

Comment: It's all been said in the other reviews so I'll just put in my two cents. Makes you wonder where all the cool, REAL rebellious musicians have gone. They are so wimpy today, aren't they?
