Comment: Apart from a few major hits, the rest of the songs are really bad. I guess the best songs sell the worst songs on this album! MY ADVICE, don't bother purchasing this album.

Comment: Love it!!! some of these songs (like "Funky Man") i've been trying to find for years---friends never heard them and didn't believe they existed. overall, great CD---I love it.

Summary: Preparation Perfection
Comment: In preparation for the CELEBRATION of my 5-0 birthday where a Kool and the Gang concert would be the highlight of my big day, I purchased this Kool & the Gang Gold CD after much consideration and comparison. While I spent hours, yes hours, comparing the content of the available Kool and the Gang CDs to see which one had all of the hits from both the 70's and 80's eras, I found that the "Gold" album had most of the longer versions (as opposed to the radio versions) of ALL of the hits from the 70's and 80's (except for long version of "Summer Madness" which I purchased separately). This album had me totally prepared to see them in concert and I was not disappointed in any way at the concert in that they played the long versions of each and every hit on this CD with the synthesizer, Kool's bass, and the horns sounding as good as ever. Happy Birthday to me and Dennis "DT" Thomas on the same day. CELEBRATION!
Don't waste your time comparing. This is THE Kool & the Gang CD to buy to get all the hits from both eras.

Comment: Kool and the Gang are one of the greatest funk bands that has ever existed. Their songs are timeless classics. A few of my favorite classics on this album are Summer Madness, Hollywood Swinging, Too Hot, Celebration, and Fresh. Let's not forget the ultimate wedding song, Cherish. That song is definitely going to be my wedding song. Kool and the Gang are still Kool after all these years.

Summary: Can't get enough of this funky group!
Comment: Kool and the Gang is most definitely one of the tightest and funkiest groups of the last 35 plus years. They exemplify what musicians should be like and about. These collection of tracks are self evident. I copped this one about a year ago and i already have most of the albums at home. I'm still going to go out and cop some more of the self titled ones though.
