Customer Rating: Summary: LOVE this play, and the CD Comment: We saw SPAMALOT twice in Vegas and wanted to hear some of the songs again. This CD brought back all the fond memories and is very well done!
Customer Rating: Summary: LAS VEGAS REVIEW Comment: Just saw it in Vegas! the show was excellent even though we got the understudy. The only thing i had a problem with was that we paid twice as much for the tickets to get these so-called VIP tickets that were incredibly lame. First we were suppose to get a grail souvener with a free drink in it. When we got there everyone had one and they were about 4 dollars. Plus the free drink was limited to soda or beer. We wished we bought regular tickets at this point. Then after the show we were suppose to be allowed backstage. the only person we got to meet was this twit of a dancer who called us retards because we were being so quiet. plus i really had to pee about midway thanks to the grail full of soda but i was stuck in the middle. Go but dont waste your money on VIP tickets
Customer Rating: Summary: Riotous Fun and Surprisingly Catchy!! Comment: How can anyone not chuckle at most of this score? You can't help yourself, it's so inanely silly, yet some of the music is amazingly melodious and catchy. I found myself humming Always Look On the Bright Side of Life for days after listening to the CD. Totally infectious.
David Hyde Pierce performing You Won't Succeed On Broadway (If You Don't Have Any Jews) is completely irreverent, tasteless, and hysterically funny! Too many funny moments to list here. Don't look for high art (or for that matter good taste), take it for what it is, go with it and enjoy it!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Possibly the funniest musical EVER! Comment: I don't care who or how old you are: if you don't laught at Spamalet you are probably dead. Not only is it funny, but the CD quality is excellent, the music is superb and the various singers' presentations are right on the mark. I personally recommend You Can't Make It On Broadway If You Haven't Any Jews! This particular patter song (in the time-honored tradition of Gilbert & Sullivan) is wildly funny, beautifully orchestrated and every word is crystal clear.
You simply can't go wrong with this CD.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Comment: This original cast album is absolutely hilarious! I purchased it because I will be attending a Broadway performance of Spamalot in April, and I wanted to get an idea of what to expect when I see the show live! Of course, I've been a fan of Monty Python humor for a long time, and loved the original movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, that this show is "lovingly" based on! The actors in the original Spamalot case are mad talented, and I'm excited about seeing this show live! I highly recommend this album for anyone looking for a taste of this high-energy and just plain silly-funny show!

As gleefully silly yet wickedly smart as the beloved British comedy troupe and their 1975 cinematic savaging of the Arthurian legend that inspired it, this adaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail by MP's Eric Idle and longtime musical co-conspirator John Du Prez has much more on its feverish agenda than merely trashing King Arthur and firmly upending his Round Table. The film's plot remains largely intact, but its core songs ("Knights of the Round Table," "Brave Sir Robin") and comic thrust have been both expanded and satirically redirected, a musical comedy shotgun that takes dizzy aim at pop culture in general, and Broadway in particular. After typically Pythonesque distractions that somehow find us in "Finland..," stars David Hyde-Pierce, Tim Curry, Hank Azaria and company get busy conjuring the Lady of the Lake with the unlikely help of "Laker Girls..," while cast members Sara Ramirez and Christopher Sieber deliciously skewer contemporary Broadway cliches via the loopy showstopper "The Song That Goes Like This," a tune whose reprise also deliciously sends up every overwrought stage diva from Merman to Minelli. Idle has shrewdly ripped off--well, interpolated--Life of Brian's "Always Look On the Bright Side" for the new show, and even a snatch of "The Lumberjack Song" in "He Is Not Dead Yet." "You Won't Succeed on Broadway" reveals the frankly Semitic secret to stage success, and the French get can-canned on "Run Away!" Meanwhile, our bravest knight is de-closeted on the Manilow-mauling "His Name is Lancelot" before the familiar sound of clomping coconut shells brings down the curtain on the season's goofiest if satirically dead-on comic delight. --Jerry McCulley Have Fun with More Irreverent Musicals Urinetown | The Rocky Horror Picture Show | The Frogs | Zanna Don't | Hedwig and the Angry Inch | Avenue Q |
