Customer Rating: Summary: In Short Comment: All sixteen tracks on this album are awesome and make it nearly a greatest hits compilation, my personal favorites being Track 2: Whoopsie Daisy/Catch A Fire, Track 3:The Slam, and both Tracks 11 and 14 are excellent also, the former being Burn For You and the latter Phenomenon, although as stated earlier, the whole CD is truly excellent and worth the price. If you are struck between buying this or Momentum, I'd have to say get Welcome To Diverse City, which is three times as excellent as Momentum, although I'm not complaining about latter either. Buy them both!

Keep on Rocking/Rapping, Toby!
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun, addicting Comment: I never thought I would enjoy this kind of music until I listened to this album a few times. TobyMac is great. The different sounds of each song keep you hopping. It's a great cd to pop in if you're having a down day. It never fails to cheer me up. Also turn on Ill-M-I for an instant pump-up before playing a ballgame. There is also plenty of depth to be found on tracks like Stories and Burn for You.
Customer Rating: Summary: Truth put to music! Comment: Excellent! Toby brings to the surface a hard hitting commitment to ending racism and hatred while keeping to the truth that we are a diverse community and how that is ordained by God. His music encourages love for your fellow man, honesty with yourself and forgiveness and joy through Jesus Christ!
Customer Rating: Summary: Pick This Up, You Won't Reget It! Comment: I listen to all kinds of music, not necessarily just christian music. I listen to pretty much all genres. I must say that this album is truly a masterpiece. It's my favorite album. It has so much range of sound that you can't go wrong no matter what you like. It differs from Momentum in that it's more hip-hop and funk based, but rock is still represented strong. It's chill at some parts, hype on others, and some parts rest in the middle. It's filled w/ guest spots and contributions, and it makes you feel good. Even the interludes are awesome, I've never experienced that in an album before. This album is a milestone for christian music in that it's on par with secular artists, but it has a positive message. This album is as perfect as it gets.

Customer Rating: Summary: Decent, not his best Comment: The Momentum and Portable Sounds albums are better. Interesting that with the name "Diverse City" this is the least diverse of his three solo albums. Most of the songs are in the Hip-Hop/Pop style he does so well. For the true Tobymac fan, it's a worth while buy but if you're just getting into Tobymac, you're better off getting one of the other albums.

It won't take you long after the opening strains of "Toby's back" from the opening track of Welcome To Diverse City to realize that yes indeed, Toby Mac is back with his second solo effort and follow-up to the superb Momentum. It's apparent from the beginning of this release that the studio wizard and third member of DC Talk is back in the house with another rich blend of rap, soul, pop, and techno. All the while, this DC Talk-er is laying down the gospel of one God, one love, and one people. Leading off with the smooth rap of "Hey Now," Toby Mac promises us to "set a new pace" because "it's been a long time comin' but I'm serving up the sequel." And serving up he does well with healthy portions of hard rock ("Slam"), funky soul with Bootsy Collins ("Welcome To Diverse City"), smooth pop ("Gone"), disco rock ("Getaway Car"), and biographical rap ("Gotta Go"). Building off his group and solo release experience (not to mention multiple production jobs for other artists), Toby Mac flows with a lyrical and stylistic consistency that holds together. Ultimately what he does so well is fly all the colors of the musical rainbow in one banner, seamlessly weaving different styles into one unmistakable flag. It's a mark all his own and worthy of merit in the Christian music world and beyond. --Michael Lyttle
