Customer Rating: Summary: One love from 5 great men! Comment: "One Love" is a very nice offering from the legends who call themselves New Edition. This album consists of mostly mid-tempos and upbeat songs, but there are a few very impressive ballads, and the ballads are the best tracks. Some of the production here sounds like it belongs on the demo of an inexperienced producer. Ironically, the production is done by none other than P.Diddy. Johnny, Ralph, Ricky, Mike and Ronnie (don't ask where Bobby is) are aging, but gracefully. There voices have matured; they sound almost as good as they did on their "Heartbreak" and "Home Again" LPs.
"Hot2Nite" is the only song that was released to radio. I enjoy the song, however, they tried to conform to the current state of music a little too much here. "Girl give me your number, forget it, here go my number, forget it, you don't need my number, `cause we're gonna get down tonight..." Hmm, you fellows are too old to be singing such elementary material. Good track, nonetheless. Very easy to dance to. "Start Turning Me On", "Sexy Lady", "That's Why I Lied", and "Leave Me" are all good tracks, but none of the mentioned illustrate NE at their best. "Newness", "Re-Write the Memories" and "Wildest Dreams" are the standout tracks. "Newness" is simply beautiful. This song is about being in a relationship for a long period of time, but the newness never leaves. Johnny, Ralph and Ricky sound great on "Re-Write the Memories." They hit some impressive falsetto notes and the production and words here are also worth mentioning.
This album is granted 3 ½ stars by me. I have always enjoyed the music of New Edition and was thrilled to see them with Bad Boy. It's too bad that only lasted a little while. However, this album would be a great addition to your music collection.

Customer Rating: Summary: first New Edition disappoitment Comment: I remember how excited I was to hear that New Edition was releasing another album. I've been an NE fan since Candy Girl and couldn't wait to buy the CD (and I don't buy that many CDs). I was a little nervous about them being on Bad Boy though.
And that was for good reason. This release was the first and only time I was sorely disappointed in a New Edition album. The CD as a whole is ultimately forgettable. There was way too much effort to conform to Bad Boy's ultra-young over-the-top sex and hip hop instead of being true to what New Edition's legacy and appeal have always been. Mike and Ron's tired hip hop wannabe rap act wears thin within their first two bars of rhymes. These guys aren't 17 years old, but Bad Boy puts all their eggs in that basket.
I await NE's next release and pray that they will actually sing about something the next time around.
Customer Rating: Summary: go back to your wack solo careers Comment: if p diddy can't bring your career back nobody can or maybe diddy just did'nt promote these fools ANYWAY THIS WAS A FLOP NE was cool in the 80's but they suck now jophnny gill is a queer ask eddie murphy, tyller perry, and tevin campbell and I think ralph is too he always talkecd a little like michael jackson anyway.
Customer Rating: Summary: As good as any R&B group this Decade. Comment: 4 Good tracks.
Come Home With Me
That's Why I Lied
Re-Write The Memories
Wildest Dreams *This is the standout song. Very nice retro sound*
Customer Rating: Summary: Very smooth and jazzy and with a dash of hip hop thrown in Comment: Wow,I slept on this CD for almost 3 years. I originally bought it and only listened to Hot2Nite. It was my favorite song when it first came out. That was enough to get me to buy the whole CD.
Anyways some years later, I am driving down to NC and pull the CD out from the side storage. The interludes were bad but a majority of the album is a banger.
You heard a little bit of BBD and Ralph and Johnny did their damn thing. I think one of the joints features Ralph, Ricky, and Johnny sharing lead vocals. Won't no grand standing with the vocals. E'erbody accepts their vocal ability for what it is.
Come Home With Me is in my Top 10 of favorite love songs. This is probably the best R&B product Bad Boy ever released but didn't know how to market.
BTW...Bobby wasn't missed.
If you don't have a favorite NE member, definitely get this for your collection. Very smooth and jazzy and with a dash of hip hop thrown in.
