Sympathique, (||) Artist, Pink Martini I hate to be so crude but.. i'd like to hear a womans finger nails scratch against a chokeboard then to listen to this song.. It sounds like a old 40's balié song. 2. London In The Rain, (|V) Artist, Variety Lab One of the best songs in this compilation. I love this song because I like more of the Instrumental/Electronica lounge. It was worth buying this compilation just for this song alone. 3. L'Amour, (V) Artist, Rouge Rouge A good song after you listen to it a few times. 4. Adore, (||) Artist, I:Cube At the first of the song you hear a stupid woman scream. after about 1:09 of the song. I loved it for its beautiful instrumental sound. a very nice song. 5. My Funny Valentine [Album Version Edit], (|) Artist, Big Muff A felaxing female vocal sound in this song. Good song. 6. Latazz, (|||) Artist, Funky Lowlives A very jazzy/easy-listening piece. Flawless Instrumental sound. Good to listen to, while at a café. 7. Morenito feat. No Communication, No Love (Devastating), (|) Artist, Charles Schillings & Pompon F. This song is the 2nd best in this compilation. When I hear this, it makes me want to dance. 15. What It Feels Like For A Girl [Stéphane Pompougnac Remix], (Bonus Track) Artist, Madonna I am a huge Madonna fan. And this is a good mix for this song but its not really lounge. But I love this song. And I love Madonna. This compilation Is beautifully designed and it would go good in your lounge CD section. Its amazing how various the type of lounge is on this compilation. I give 3 & a half stars to, Hôtel Costes; Vol.8: Best of.. By Stéphane Pompougnac. Customer Rating: Summary: tracks 9-12 Comment: are worth having this cd. the rest is not bad either. I am not huge fan of lounge music, but this seems to be an OK collection even for (as one reviewer dubbed us) the uninitiated. Customer Rating: Summary: Simply the "BEST" Comment: I use the "COSTES" series in my loungy restaurant, you couldn't find a better style and selection of chill tunes. Customer Rating: Summary: A sampler for the uninitiated Comment: I love the Hotel Costes series so I thought the Best of Hotel Costes would be a good idea. I was a tad dissapointed but not enough to bury it in my archives and never listen to it again. It does lack some of the mixing that is part of the strength of the other Hortel Costes discs but it is still a very good compilation. As an introduction or if you don't want the others this will suffice.The opening track by the excellent Pink Martini entitled "Symathique"(taken from the disc of the same name)sets the table for the European sound. By the time you check out "Amour" by Rogue Rogue the pace will have you settled into the groove. These jazzy- soul laid back grooves are way cool. The standard "My Funny Valentine is reworked to create a dreamy sexy groove by Muff Muff that is hard to resist; it is mellow lovers mix for getting close to that special someone. Other stanouts include Shirley Bassy remixed version of "Where Do I Begin" that featurers the GoldFingeresque vocals to a syncopated downtempo beat for haunting results. The bossa nova infused songs mix with catchy songs like "One Night in Rio" that is a hilarious story. Trinity's version of the Simon and Garfunkel classic "Sounds of Silence" is updated for the I-Pod generation with nice spacey effects. The closing track is one the best by Stephanie P as she reinterprets the cover by Madonna "What it Feels Like For a Girl" to create a midtempo new classic although use of some of the other lyrics might have made it better? If you haven't heard the other Hotel Costes discs you might try this one but you'll be missing out the whole experience without the other volumes. More Reviews
