Customer Rating: Summary: AQUABATS RULE!!!!! Comment: This band has in one day skyrocketed to the top of my favorite bands!!!If your children watch a kids show called Yo-Gabba-Gabba,then you might have seen them on the episode called Summertime, that was what turned me on to the Aquabats!!!Well this album has(in my point of view) there two best songs,Pool Party(they played that one on Yo-Gabba-Gabba)and Pizza Day!!!I own all of the Aquabats albums but this one and The Fury of the Aquabats are my two favorites albums!!!So to all of you cadets out there,LONG LIVE THE AQUABATS!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: holy guacomole Comment: Killer frikkin ska album. Ive been reading the reviews and ive noticed there was nothing else to be said. But, nobody mentioned the song Worms Make Dirt. That song is epic and amazing. How they thought of a chipmunk in the center of the earth is beyond me. These guys take geeky ska to a new level. Pool Party is also another cool song. "dude just watching the dating game". The chorus is really catchy. Pizza Day is probably the best song on the album. Good, funny lyrics. So this cd is awesome so buy it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Serious Awsomeness! Comment: How can you not like this CD. It's fun-filled and packed with adventure. This CD blows the top off the volcano man! What are you doing sitting here reading this review...go buy the cd!
Customer Rating: Summary: what in the name of Comment: Now I won't bash too heavily or linger too long on the vast array of negatives this group has to offer, however I feel at least the need to let you know just what you're getting into when swapping your savings for this album. This is without question an acquired taste and I haven't the slightest idea of how one would go about acquiring it. For reference, here is a short list of things I jotted down after fully committing myself, double meaning there, to give this CD 1 full spin before ridding myself of this stuff.
Times said : "Please kill me" - 38
"How much longer?" - 28
"I'm not going to make it" - 18
"How is this possible?" - 16
"What is more pointless, this music, or my listening to it?" - 4
"What kind of sick masochist am I calling upon myself to suffer through this just for the self-satisfaction it would bring?" - 0 but it was close
As you can read, I never felt more bitter or cynical after voluntarily listening to music that I can remember. The music itself is a concoction of a lot of loud, flashy, gimmicky sounds from electronic keyboards and trumpets pieced together in order to make the craziest, most unusual sound possible. To be blunt, this is reminiscent of music on Saturday morning kids show theme songs. That is not to say that removing these over-the-top elements the musicianship is bad. When they want to play their instruments in a listenable way, they show that they could make music people might enjoy. However, that is soon forgotten when you factor in the vocals and the lyrics. I guess they're trying to be funny or irreverent when writing these songs like the band They Might Be Giants, only 1 problem: they're not funny or witty in any conceivable way. There's songs about superheroes & the pizza day at school, although they just go nowhere, offer nothing humorous, use the most cornball language imaginable, and just leave you incredulous over what their motivation could be for producing this type of music. The singer's voice, however gets the nod as the most over-the-top annoying thing of them all, the most obvious unending novelty that sparks the most rage. The only song that got any pleasant reaction out of me was "I fell asleep on my arm," that has some traces of wit and mockery of Korn & Limp Bizkit, which will get them at least a star anytime because as bad as The Aquabats are, they're if nothing else making the music they want and not catering to the teen sheep of MTV. So all in all 2 stars. Hope this helps.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not a dissapointment but not quite enough. Comment: This is a good cd, it's not great but it's not bad. This is the Aquabats latest release and it's not to bad. The Aquabats keep there ska and wackiness in this cd but for some reason I just can't get into it as much. There are plenty of good songs but it just doesn't feel as good every since the Aquabats released the Floating Eye Of Death in '98. Still a good release buy a great ska band.
Robot Theme Song- One of those songs I just don't get, intro.3/10
Hey Luno- Great song to start off it, About a flying horse. 8/10
Pool Party- Long and it gets very old, but good for kicks. 6/10
Pizza Day- Best on the cd, great horns and hilarious lyrics.10/10
Dear Spike- Good song. No ska but still a decent song. 8/10
I Fell Asleep On My Arm- I love it but way to long. 5/10
Radiation Song- I don't really like this one, slow but funny.5/10
Adventure Today- Repetitive lyrics but the ska keeps it good.7/10
The Baker-2nd best on the CD, funny lyrics with good horns. 9/10
Danger Woman- A dumb song with nothing to it, just boring. 2/10
Worms Make Dirt- Not even funny, just stupid and slow. 2/10
Sandyface- A decent song, good replay value. 7/10
The Wild Sea- A solid ending, but leaves you hanging. 6/10
Overall the cd is just ok I just couldn't get into it. It agrivates me because I don't know why. There's only about two songs that I would listen to more than once, but when you put this cd in it has some decent songs. I expected a little too much though and got something just good, yet under expectations.
