Customer Rating: Summary: A Great Assortment Of Classic Rockers And Original Material Comment: This soundtrack for "School of Rock" delivers on every level: the song selection is great, the original dialogue excerpts are amusing, and the sound quality is near perfect. The classics included cross most genres and include extremely well known monster hits like Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" and lesser known, though brilliant, works like "Ballrooms of Mars" by T-Rex. The only thing on the disc I could have done without is "T. V. Eye" by Wylde Ratttz.
Equal to the originals for entertainment value were the original cast recordings of "School of Rock" and especially the fabulous and funny cover version of "It's a Long Way to the Top", which is a personal favorite of mine.
There are a few oddities that don't seem to fit on the soundtrack, "Edge of Seventeen" foremost among them, but after seeing the movie their presence makes perfect contextual sense. I enjoyed this CD far more than I expected to, and I recommend it to music fans or fans of the movie without reservation.
Customer Rating: Summary: ROCKS! Comment: See the movie first! You'll enjoy alot more of the tracks. This CD is a great intro to Rock 'N Roll. With artists such as The Who, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Nicks, The Doors, and The Ramones, you're bound to find yourself drumming your steering wheel to the beat of these tracks.
Customer Rating: Summary: Music from the movie Comment: I only gave this three stars since I basically purchased this CD for two of the songs it contained. The CD is a compilation of music from the movie. There were only two songs from the movie on the CD that really stood out for me, but my son liked them enough that I was willing to purchase the CD for him. The rest of the CD isn't bad, it's just that the songs didn't stand out enough for me to purchase it if it wasn't for those two songs.
Customer Rating: Summary: If you liked the movie you'll love the CD Comment: Bottom line: If you like the movie you'll love this CD. It's a high energy CD for the most part, and the only downside are Jack Black's voice only narrations on a few short tracks. Brings back memories of the movie, but doesn't really add anything to the album.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun CD! Comment: My two young boys (ages 5 and 7) and I really love this CD! Jack Black is the king!

The "School of Rock" album features rock classics from Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Ramones, Cream, T-Rex, The Doors, and Stevie Nicks, alongside tracks from acclaimed new outfits The Darkness and The Black Keys. In addition, the collection contains original material from the film, including vocal excerpts from Jack Black, along with songs performed by the cast (backed by New York City-based garage rock sensations, the Mooney Suzuki). The Jack Black/School of Rock performances include the first single, 'School Of Rock,' and a rousing album-closing cover of AC/DC's 'It's A Long Way To The Top.'
