Summary: A very underrated player
Comment: Giuffre has the most sensitive, lyrical style of any jazz clarinetist I've ever heard. Jim Hall and Ray Brown are wonderful as well; the three of them have such perfectly complementary styles. The recording has a very intimate feel, which really highlights the counterpoint between the instruments. This was only a few years before Giuffre's move to free jazz, and you can already hear some of the more adventurous elements that would come to characterize his playing.
