Comment: Pedro Vargas has a wonderful voice and sings with great feeling. He sings equally well ballads, boleros, rancheras, and songs with Cuban rhythms. Who else can sing duets with Benny More and his orchestra (Perdon and Obsecion) and rancheras with Miguel Aceves Mejia? Incredible! There are two CDs called "Lo mejor de lo mejor" for Pedro Vargas; this one and one produced in 1999. Both are excellent and only a few songs overlap, so if you love his voice, buy both of them! This one (2001) has better liner notes: it lists the composers, the orchestras or bands that accompany him, and the other singers in duets. The 1999 CD has no liner notes.

Summary: PEDRO VARGAS- "LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR"
Comment: This is a good compilation by "El Tenor De Las Americas", which features some often shelved Vargas'recordings, such as "Granada", rarely re-issued on any format, "Noches de Mazatlan","Pecado","La Ultima Noche","Adios","Lamento Borincano", etc. Even though a great deal if its contents is re-hashed material from other recent CD's, in my opinion, the price is still right, you get 40 songs for ... which isn't bad....
