Customer Rating: Summary: The Nostalgia Train Comment: I am in no way shape or form a big Madge fan, but back when she was just beginning I admit it, I was on her jellied bracelet hand. The self titled debut, sometimes dubbed "The First Album" is a little piece of 80s fun from way back when I wasn't sick of looking at her. My pal Melsie and I listened to this album over and over when we were teens. The singles everyone knows but it's songs like "I Know It" that make this one a great little dose of nostalgia.

Customer Rating: Summary: Who IS that girl? Comment: Before a single publicity shot was released, Madonna had already begun her now endless run on the charts. Some thought Madonna was African American, some thought it was a new lead singer for the group "The Dazz Band" then, on July 27, 1983 the secret was out. Madonna was here.... to stay.
Chock full of happy-go-lucky songs, "Madonna" was what pop music was all about in 1983. R&B infused dance music with insanely catchy lyrics and videos that captured the carefree artist who was about to begin a musical journey through 3 decades.
Not only was her music changing the world, Madonna's look also took America by storm. You couldn't throw a stick without hitting a teenaged girl with dozens of black "gummi" bracelets on her wrist, or a lace bow tied in her processed to the hilt blond hair. This was a cultural phenomenon and Corporate America was watching. MACY'S opened a boutique in several of it's stores with fashions and accessories based on Madonna's look.
This is where it all started and for the next year and a half, you couldn't turn on the radio or watch the then brand new MTV without Ms. Ciccone's infectious pop creations assaulting your senses.
"Everybody", "Lucky Star", "Borderline", "Physical Attraction", "Holiday", "Burning Up" ... Need I say more?
Perfection.
Customer Rating: Summary: 80s Classic Comment: One Of Madonna's Best,And One Of My Favorites CDs ,A Classic ,And A Must Have
Customer Rating: Summary: The Vinyl release is still better Comment: I am not a vinyl junkie by any means, however this remaster is nowhere near as good as the original release. It isn't sound quality so much as it is the mix. To me this CD sounds heavy (especially when it comes to the bass) and nowhere near as exciting.
I am also not an audio expert so I can't explain why my vinyl version sounds faster while the running time on the LP and CD remain the same. By faster I mean more vibrant and uptempo.
The album on the other hand is fantastic and I can see why Madonna became the star of the 80's, great dance tunes and lots of energy make this a 5 star album, the poor reproduction on CD reduces it to 3.
To slightly contradict myself I will say if you have never heard the LP then you will enjoy the CD version and I will recommend it as it isn't a poor album it just doesn't match up or exceed what I have heard on vinyl.
TO UPDATE SPEED/TEMPO QUERY:
I must be blind and deaf, Holiday is chopped in half and has a new "mix" and Burning Up has been shortened and Borderline has been messed with too, Lucky Star actually is faster, it is 7 seconds faster then the CD.
