Customer Rating: Summary: good for the tricky fan Comment: This is a good EP if you are already a fan of Tricky, sort of a mix between Angels With Dirty Faces and Juxtapose. The song Crazy Claws is excellent, and Tricky Vs. Lynx only has vocals by Mad Dog, but is still a good track and gives you a taste of what his live shows are like. Mission Accomplished doesn't stand out very much but Divine comedy is a new twist on the music from Money Greedy, with some very good lyrics. If you like Tricky and have most of his albums I recommend this, although it's not a good place to start if you haven't heard much of him, especially at ten dollars for only four tracks.
Customer Rating: Summary: Tricky more hip-hop than trip-hop Comment: Get this album so you can hear Tricky at his angriest and most passionate (Divine Comedy) or so you can hear him being funky (Crazy Claws.)
Customer Rating: Summary: The new Jimi Comment: Hendrix lived in England, too. He also believed a black man should be able to play heavy guitar-based music. He was also misunderstood by his own people and deified by the vanilla media hip rightwing staff. These four tunes are brilliantly produced attacks on the outside world and Tricky will never get his props in this world. He could be the man to change hiphop, jungle and metal.
Customer Rating: Summary: Audio awakening Comment: Tricky always amazes me with his use of ambient sound juxtaposed with his naturally dislocated voice. There is nothing better than a Tricky cd except Tricky live!
Customer Rating: Summary: Unexciting exclusives Comment: This EP is the first release from Tricky since he left Island records. It comes from the independent label Ante european branch of Epitaph Records. He was not happy with the way he was treated by the major label. The music on this EP is stuff left over from his years at Isaland/Polygram. He growls sarcastically "Polygram, thats what i am" in the final song, when his angst over his record label is presented in "Divine Comedy". This appeared on white label twelve-inch records a couple years ago, it is in response to a quote made by an Island Records executive who stated all his black artists were convicts. "Divine Comedy" is mostly just the music from "Money Greedy" from his earlier album "Angels with Dirty Faces". It does include strong lyrics aimed direclty at the suits who work at Polygram. Other tracks include mediocre rapping from Mad Dog. Tricky may be able to rescue his career with his next album, it will help that none of these tracks will be on it. A new beginning with another label may give Tricky the artistic freedom to make music worthy of comparison to his finer, earlier work. Pick up this EP only if you are a completionist.
