Summary: A Nice Farewell to the 70s
Comment: While the first Van Halen record remains my favorite, I really did enjoy this one as well. It's notably softer than the 1st record, but then we wouldn't want every record to sound the same. The cover of 'You're No Good' is a really good opener. 'Dance the Night Away' has a nice almost disco sound. 'Somebody Get Me a Dr.' has its energy. 'Bottoms Up' kind of goes against my nature. 'Outta Love Again' has an almost metal sound. 'Light Up the Sky' was pleasant. 'Spanish Fly' is a nice Spanish sounding instrumental. 'DOA' has kind of a sick charm to it. 'Women In Love' has a good sound. 'Beautiful Girls' finsihes the record in a memorable Diamond Dave fashion. Strangely, while their first record was made in 1978, it sounded more 80s. And this 2nd record while made a year later, has more of a 70s sound. But, that said, it is a really good record.

Summary: Van Halen II (Never Received)
Comment: Good morning all. I rarely encounter any problems when ordering CD's DVD's from Amazon. Unfortunately I have not received this particular order as of yet..... Amazon supplies a great tracking tool when an online order is placed. This order made it as far as Iowa. Unfortunately there was not a way to convey my concern to Amazon. Hopefully they will resolve this problem in a timely manor.

Comment: After the earthshaking impact of their first album, VH followed up with another solid outing. Great album from beginning to end.

Summary: even better than their debut!
Comment: after creating the best debut in rock and roll history, what's a band to do for an encore? this album, that's what! as good as their first album is, van halen actually top themselves with this rockin' follow-up. once again, eddie's guitar showcase, "spanish fly", is the centerpiece of the album, only this time he plays it on flamenco guitar, as if he were andres segovia with long hair! the album opens with a cooler-than-it-sounds cover of linda rondstadt's "you're no good", followed by the band's first foray into pop music, "dance the night away". "light up the sky" and "d.o.a." show the band firing on all cylinders, which is why they remain, to this day, the greatest band ever, rock or otherwise.

Comment: Van Halen with DAVID LEE ROTH was the best of both worlds.
Their live show was like the circus, The greatest show on earth.
