Customer Rating: Summary: Alternate cuts Comment: I bought this boxed set after my old Hendrix CD's mysteriously disappeared. I thought the set would replace the classic albums, but every track is an alternate version. With the exception of a "Star Spangled Banner" (which bears NO resemblence to the awesome Woodstock version) the cuts make acceptable -- and occasionally superior -- substitutes for the classic Hendrix hits.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Jimi Hendrix Experience Comment: This is a must have it you like Jimi Hendrix. This set includes studio songs and several unreleased live songs, which I have never heard before. Included is a 79 page book loaded with pictures and information on the band. This is one of the best CD sets that I have ever purchased and added to my collection. Enjoy.
Customer Rating: Summary: the late great jimi hendrix Comment: you are a timeless legend jimi!!! you are the god of the electric guitar!!! and furthermore you will always rock!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: A must for any hardcore Hendrix fan Comment: I bought this box set not knowing what I was going to experience. I've been a Hendrix fan since my early teens and now that I'm nearly twenty my musical tastes are changing. Starting to turn my back on all the new age rock and going back to the classics. You get your moneys worth with this set. Pop in the four discs and get ready to go on a inner stellar ride. You get four hours of music to enjoy. THe live songs are my favs. Most of them I've never heard along with the demo's. If your into blues Jimi more than takes care of you blues fans with "Hear my Train a Comin,Red House and a few more I believe. He plays the blues just as good as that good old rock and roll. The box set has a 80 full color page book that is ontop of the CD cases. The read on this thing is intresting. I would say it is similar to the one that accompanies the Doors '97 box set. If your a hard core fan and don't own this you'll be glad when you purchase this. Newbies get the greatist hits and see what you think. This box was also released in VINYL for those of you with those good old record players.

The arc of Jimi Hendrix's cometlike career is captured on the four-disc Jimi Hendrix Experience box set, which showcases the musician's mercurial brilliance and offers new angles from which to appraise his artistry. That the great guitarist's unreleased musings have been explored since his death three decades ago wouldn't seem to bode well for a multidisc collection such as this. But this retrospective boggles the mind merely by presenting how much Hendrix accomplished in a few short years and, in doing so, questioning what he would have achieved had he lived. --Steven Stolder
