Customer Rating: Summary: Bay City Rollers: The Definitive Collection Comment: Great CD from the wonderful and fun Bay City Rollers. I was never really into them or anything, but I watched an episode of October Road and they were playing songs from this CD throughout the show and I just HAD to have it. Great stuff and makes ya feel like a kid again!
Customer Rating: Summary: Rollermania is alive and well and still clad in tartan Comment: Truthfully, I was too young for Rollermania. And I wasn't a resident of the U.K. so I never experienced the full-on rage that existed that brief but sweet time when the Rollers ruled teenage hearts. A coworker recently turned me on to the delights of this battered band of brothers and others. Their music bespoke of a time that really didn't exist in the 70s, their songs depicting a time of Shang-a-Lang and Sha La La La so far removed from staggering gasoline prices, Studio 54 decadence and Watergate. They were beautifully youthful, terribly dressed and just what the decade needed -- something to distract us from the real problems at hand.
I recommend this disk to anyone who wants to remember a time they don't quite remember and want to forget what's going on in the world right now.
Customer Rating: Summary: A nice collection of hits Comment: This is a nice collection of their hits. The complaint that I have is that extra music was added to "Give a Little Love". The original version is fine. But overall, a good CD with interesting linear notes.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Retro Present Comment: I purchased this for a Christmas gift for my sister. (yes..early shopping). We loved the Bay City Rollers growing up and watched them every Saturday on the Kroft Super Show. This is a great "you're not going to guess what I got you" gift for someone or even yourself who loves to relive the old days of this kind of music.
Customer Rating: Summary: Brings back memories Comment: I stumbled across this while shopping for something else. Wow! This brings back memories of my "younger" days! If you are looking for one cd that will give you most of the popular and memorable songs from the Bay City Rollers then this is the one for you.

Editorial Reviews:

The mid-70s belonged to a group of hopelessly plaid Scotsmen who named themselves after a northern Michigan resort town. With an affect on fans that resembled Beatlemania in terms of screaming, fainting, and pledges of undying love, the Bay City Rollers enjoyed a string of U.K. pop hits along with modest American success. In retrospect, the band's music is still sugary enough to give listeners a toothache; however, there is a certain charming innocence to tunes like "Saturday Night," "Summer Love Sensation," and (of course) "Shang-a-Lang." Boy-band nostalgia, anyone? --S. Duda
