Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Comment: Mike Ness is one of the few people who can pull off convering old country songs and make it sound good. Most often, even with most so-called "new country" artists, the music is cheesy and overproduced. On this recording, the old school, raw and earthy sound of country is alive and kicking. Ness has the right voice for it too, with his natural nasal twang. The guitar work here is down and dirty country and rockabilly too. This is real, authentic, roadhouse country music.
Customer Rating: Summary: Country pickin at its finest Comment: Classic ness voice covering some old country favorites, if you are interested in this cd you probably know what its about. There are no disappointments here.
Customer Rating: Summary: Respect Comment: A must have for any real Social D and Mike Ness fan. It is a little different after being accustomed to Social Distortion albums, but listen to the music and don't focus on the genre. I'm a fan of many types of music, a huge fan of Johnny Cash, and I am always glad to see someone follow their heart instead of what is popular. "Under the Influences" is a testimony to those who came before us, so don't buy it expecting that Social D edge. Buy it because you want to hear some good classic songs sung by a legend.
Customer Rating: Summary: REAL STUFF Comment: It's pretty bad when it takes a punk rocker to make a great country album. But that's exactly what happened and thank god it did.
"Let the jukebox keep on playing" is one of th ebest country cover songs of all time.
Keep up the good work Mike.
Customer Rating: Summary: this isn't regular social d Comment: mike on his own rocks, but this has a huge "country" type feel to it, if you're not into johnny cash.. or willing to go beyond a punker boy sound.. this isn't for you. mike's voice still rocks, but the country feel might turn some fans off. for those that liked cheating at solitair this is a good bet. this would be a great addition/gift for anyone that likes country rock
