Customer Rating: Summary: Three Dog Night 20 Greatest Hits Comment: I LOVE this cd! I havent stopped
listening to it since I received it.
Would definately recommend it to
anyone!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Not Caught In Its Time Comment: Three Dog Night would still pack a concert hall as their music is ageless.
This CD has all the best of this group and will bring back great memories of the era. Plus, with winter setting in, who wouldn't want to be kept warm by at least these three dogs.
Customer Rating: Summary: Historical Sequence of TDN's Greatest Hits Comment: Here is a compilation of hits by the super group "Three Dog Night", who released a string of pop radio hits from the late 60's to the mid 70's. This collection includes their most noteworthy radio hits from eight of their studio albums. These songs were played extensively on the airwaves, and all of them have a sound characteristic of TDN, which cannot be described in words, but simply have that essence which unmistakably belongs to this band.
There are 20 songs to be found on this album. From their first album, the self-titled "Three Dog Night", is the lonely song "One" and the romantic "Try A Little Tenderness". Three songs were derived from their second album, "Suitable For Framing": these include "Eli's Coming", a fast-paced, frantic sounding act; "Easy To Be Hard", a gentle piece originally found in the 60's soundtrack and Off-Broadway play "Hair"; and "Celebrate", a lively party song. Two tracks are extracted from their third studio album "It Ain't Easy". These include "Mama Told Me Not To Come", and the laid-back "Out In The Country". Three hits come from their fourth album "Naturally": "Liar", about dishonesty in a relationship; the high-energy "One Man Band", and the super hit "Joy To The World", perhaps the group's biggest hit.
From the fifth studio album, "Harmony", comes the heartfelt "An Old Fashioned Love Song", the memory-laden traveling song "Never Been To Spain", and the description of modern conditions (in 1971) "Family Of Man". (This song could be relevant today, over 35 years later). Out of their sixth studio album "Seven Separate Fools", comes a prosocial song "Black And White", about racial harmony; and the tender-sounding "Pieces Of April". Two hits are taken from their seventh studio album, "Cyan". These are the joyous "Shambala", and the piano-driven romantic "Let Me Serenade You". Three hits march out of their last great studio album "Hard Labor": "The Show Must Go On", a track which begins and ends with the familiar circus theme; "Let Me Serenade You", another piano-laden romantic piece; and "Play Something Sweet (Brickyard Blues)".
These great songs, with their wonderful creativeness, artistry, and tremendous popularity, make up an outstanding collection which deserves seven stars out of five on the five-point scale here. It would have been great if this band had continued making hits and albums beyond the mid 1970s, for they would likely have been just as good.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Album Comment: If you enjoy Three Dog Night, this is the album for you. I have played this CD way too much since I purchased it. The songs are still as fresh as they were 30 years ago and the sound quality is wonderful. Highly recommend if you are a fan.
Customer Rating: Summary: Greatest Hits for the Greatest Price Comment: I will take this from the GREATEST HITS perspective. We have the Millenium Collection, a few multi-disk anthologies, GOLDEN BISQUITS, and this import. This is by far the best deal for those who just want the hits, and not all the album tracks, (and there are quite a few good ones). All of the singles are here, from the biggest (Joy To The World) to personal favorites like "Out In The Country". It would be redundant to go track by track, since like Creedence Clearwater in the same time frame, they were Single Machines who also put out great albums as well. If you want just the best for a good price, this is it. If you want a completist collection, go for the multi disk anthology. You can't go wrong with the music, for one of the best Vocal Bands of the era, with the tightest backup band since Booker T's MG's.
