Customer Rating: Summary: Best Jimmy collection I could find Comment: I'm a new fan of Jimmy Hendrix, so I wanted to find the one CD collection that contained his most famous hits. This CD is definitely the one to go with if you want the best bang for your buck.
Customer Rating: Summary: Timeless Comment: Words don't do his music justice this is the one that I simply could not live without. It's incredible.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Great Start. Comment: Jimi Hendrix is one of my all-time favorite musicians and I picked this up a few weeks ago on the cheap. That's one of the best things about download mania because so many used CDs are now available at an inexpensive price. Just about everything that a fan of Hendrix--looking for a quick fix--needs is here on this collection. Certainly all of the classics are, but I recommend listening to his live stuff as, in the flesh, he was even more of a standout than in the studio. Personally, "The Wind Cries Mary, Hey Joe, Little Wing, Red House, Manic Depression, and Crosstown Traffic" are the Hendrix tunes I treasure most. If you don't know his oeuvre though then I would not be surprised if "Purple Haze" and "Foxey Lady" were the ones to immediately impress you most. Those were the tracks I could not get enough of as a boy. Hail Jimi! Gone but never forgotten.
Customer Rating: Summary: The best of the best Comment: My best friend and I just discovered Hendrix a short time before he died--what an amazing artist and rocker! One of the 8-tracks I bought back then was Cry of Love--loaded with lesser known but very fine singles. These, along with the classics (Fire, Purple Haze, etc.), are here--making it in my view the best compilation of the best 60's psychodelic rocker. Check out Angel, Dolly Dagger, Night Bird Flying, and more...
Customer Rating: Summary: Classic Hendrix Comment: If you like Jimi, you'll want this in your collection. Soulful and sweet! Takes you back to the sixties.

Experience Hendrix brings together the major singles with a stack of majestic album tracks and the career-defining live Woodstock version of "The Star Spangled Banner" on a fat 20-tracker. While best used as a sampler to direct new listeners to the immortal Are You Experienced, Electric Ladyland, and so on, the CD (which supplants the short-lived Ultimate Experience collection) does hang together as a listen. Its blend of Hendrix the rocker and Hendrix the underrated soul man is suggestive, painting a picture of a multifaceted genius and transcending its plainly mercenary origins. In the end, its effect--like that of all Hendrix's best records--is to remind us of a Jimi very, very much alive. --Rickey Wright
