Summary: 4 stars at least
Comment: While I agree with the excellent commentary by retro style crooner. I thought 3 stars was a bit harsh as the songs are strong. I also wanted to add my own bit of trivia. The lead singer of LeGent is Ron Wilson, son of legendary soul singer Jackie Wilson who sung "Reet Petite". Ron has a great, great voice.
And yes, Timmy Gatling is an excellent producer, check out Timmy Gatling's solo album "Help"

Summary: Le Gent Had The Makings To Be Huge
Comment: Did Le Gent fall through the cracks? Well, their self-titled debut album is a great example of an R&B disc that had all the makings of a hit. The album was produced by the heavily respected Timmy Gatling (former member of Guy) who wasn't as famous as Babyface & LA Reid or Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, but he had a very good resume and was one of the most requested producers in the New Jack Swing era. He has worked with huge artists like Bell Biv DeVoe, Stephanie Mills, Keith Sweat, Ralph Tresvant, Christopher Williams, and New Edition. Timmy Gatling's work with Le Gent isn't anything to be ashamed of, the focus of this all-male vocal quartet is hip-hop-minded smooth-groove R&B that sounds like After 7 by way of Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill. Gatling nearly co-wrote every song, "Go to Go Sex-U-O," "Need a Good Woman" and "Woman's Heart" are among the most enjoyable. The lead single "Woman's Heart" hit a disapointing No. 85 on the Billboard Hot 100, but was a top-20 hit on the R&B charts, but the chart positions shouldn't make this album overlooked. Unfortunately this CD was ignored, and Le Gent was never given the chance to record a follow-up album.
