Customer Rating: Summary: IS THIS FLIP CITY OR WHAT?..... WORTHY EIGHTIES POP... Comment: Say what you will. The year:1989. I was six years old. Ghostbusters were the equivelant to Jesus. Bobby Brown was the link between me and my older cousin, as we were both fans of the single ON OUR OWN. I snatched a quarter from my moms everyday so I could play the track on the jukebox at Franks Pizza. Once my moms got sick of me hanging out at the smokey pizza place, and snatching her quarters, she broke down and bought me the tape. Ghostbusters II soundtrack. I can still listen to this thing. SUPERNATURAL by New Edition... holy late eighties! SPIRIT by Doug E. Fresh still rocks the roof off. Run DMC do a cool update of the Ghostbusters theme song, but i must confess that I would have liked the original Ray Parker version on here as well. The first Ghostbusters soundtrack sort of sucks. Theres more here! FLIP CITY, that song is cool. HIGHER AND HIGHER caps it off. Thats the one that they played when they brought the Statue of Liberty to life, 'member?
I played the S-H eye tea's out of this thing back when I was a kid. Lost it since then... but I think I want it back now. Prolly the best pop music of the eighties can all be found in one spot. The Ghostbusters II soundtrack.
Customer Rating: Summary: "We are the busters of any G-H-O-S-T" Comment: Like the film itself, the song score of "Ghostbusters II" was not quite up to the standard of the original film. Nonetheless, this is a fun CD. Whereas every track on the "Ghostbusters" soundtrack is heard in the film (even if only for two seconds), the "Ghostbusters II" CD showcases some songs composed for the film but omitted from the final cut. Most amazing is that director Ivan Reitman had the chutzpah to commission a song from the great Elton John -- the rollicking "Love is a Cannibal" -- and not use it in his movie!
Also unlike the first soundtrack album, "Ghostbusters II" features no excerpts from the incidental music score, instead focusing entirely on songs. While Randy Edelman's score is enjoyable, it is far inferior to Elmer Bernstein's for the first film, so its absence from the CD feels like no great loss.
While my favorite song in the film was "Spirit" (which features the best of the soundtrack's three separate retellings of the film's storyline in rap), my favorite song on the album is "Flip City", which is heard to much better advantage than in the film. Ironically, its lyrics can be interpreted as a (clearly coincidental) comment on the Egon-Janine-Louis triangle suggested by this movie.
Customer Rating: Summary: One of the very best soundtracks around! Awesome! Comment: Listening to this music from the wonderful movie brings me back to that happier time in my life, 1989, with fewer cares, etc. It helps me relive that first time watching it in the theaters. That is, when I'm not actually watching the DVD at home. But there is something about the music in this CD. It really is awesome! My favorites are "On Our Own" (of course!), "We're Back", "Flip City" and "Higher and Higher." This is truly some of the best music for any movie, any time, IMO. If you are still a Ghostbusters fan (as I continue to be and always will), then you really must get this CD for your collection. It is well worth the money spent, however you can get it, wherever you can find it (the CD, that is). Who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! :)
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome in every way! Comment: This CD really rocks - like no other soundtrack. As I listen to each song, I am taken back in memory to the theater as I watched the movie for the very first time. I purchased Ghostbusters 1 and Ghostbusters 2 on DVD, replacing the VHS versions. Now, I did the same with the soundtrack, from cassettes (remember those? hehe) to the CD versions. I've not been disappointed with any of them. Excellent sound quality and convenience - to play B. Brown's "On Our Own" in Repeat mode ;) I could - and often do - listen to that one track over and over, along with "We're Back" and "Higher and Higher" and, of course, "Flip City" but they really are all good -- well worth the money, whatever it costs you! No Ghostbusters fan's library or shelf is complete without at least this CD, but you really have to get all of them. ;)
Customer Rating: Summary: Not bad. Comment: This CD is decent enough. My personal favorite tracks on the album are "On Our Own", "We're Back", "Spirit", "Ghostbusters", "Flip City", and "Higher and Higher". The rest, while not bad, is, with the exception of "Flesh & Blood", just filler that has nothing to do with the movie in any way. If only they would have rounded out the CD with some samples of the excellent score for the film, it could have been much better. Overall though, it is not a bad album.
