Customer Rating: Summary: BBD's Hootie Mack is a displaced dud......... Comment: Plainly put. No where near exciting or even listenable as Poison.
Customer Rating: Summary: Underrated Album - Y'all Slept on this one Big Time! Comment: Hootie Mack was an impressive follow up to Poison. By all accounts this sophomore offering is lyrically, musically and socially superior to the multi platinum CD that came before it. So why is it that no one can recall catchy grooves like "Above the Rim", "Show Me the Way", "Lost in the Moment", "Lovely" and a host of other jams from booty shakin' to bedroom slow grinds?
Oddly, the album did not receive the proper radio, video, concert & PR it was entitled and inevitably became another casualty of the recording business machine. As a result, you have a terribly underrated album that sits in countless used CD bins. If you see this one in the cut-out bin - cop it!
Customer Rating: Summary: Ricky Bell is a slow song king Comment: I loved the vibe of this album. Its getting terrible reviews but see for yourself. The album is worth buying just for the song, " Something in Your Eyes " . This song is the reason that Ricky Bell should not stop singing. He can blow like no other. " Please Come Back " and " Lost in the Moment " are great tracks as well. Fatim who ? I dont think he could come close to that of Mr. Bell. Ricky Bell did a solid job and MCA buried this CD, not BBD . BBD can still hang with anything put out there in this day and age.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Terrible Album with some hidden jewels Comment: As a whole, this album really REALLY sucks, but. BUT, it just may be worth the buy for some New Jack Enthusiasts. Three tracks save this album from hitting the trash cans: "Something in your eyes", "lost in the momment" and "Above the rim." "Something in your eyes" is perhaps one of the best R&B New Jack swings songs that never was. It never got the recognition it deserved, but has always stuck with me over the years. "Above The Rim" actually kinda sucks, but Michael Bivens verse always gets me going and is the only reason I mentioned this song. The ryhmes he spits are off the hook folks in "Above The Rim." The song "lost in the momment" is a little too simple for my taste, but it still manages to drift the listener away like any good R&B track from '95 can. BOTTOM LINE, if you are down with New Jack Swing and mid 90's R&B, this album is a MUST, otherwise, PASS.
Customer Rating: Summary: Shame On You Guys Comment: Bell Biv DeVoe half or spin-off of the group New Edition drop fall short with second release. Nothing close to Poison, so don't be surprised. Nothing on here seems to hold my attention either. The only reason I gave it a one star is because of tracks 9 and 10. Both "Something In Your Eyes" written by the great Babyface and "Please Come Back" are slow jams that you can play continiously over and over again.
