Customer Rating: Summary: Buckethead: Colma (album) Comment: This is a fantastic album. I can't think of a more moving set of songs that you can just relax to. Not your normal Buckethead, but probably the most gripping and introspective. The mood that is created by this album is very melodic and peaceful. I find myself unable to skip songs...in fact I will repeat songs over and over and still can't get tired of any of them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Relaxation Station Comment: This Cd has taken the lead as the most relaxing music ever!!! Buckethead lays down the chainsaw and picks up a harp. If you have a hang over, Colma is the CD. If you had a bad day at work, Colma is the CD. If you had a fight with the lady friend, Colma is the CD. This CD is not for the "normal" Buckethead fans. You will not hear any thrashing guitars or kick butt rips, but you will hear a arrangement of outstanding chords and sounds that prove Buckethead is the best unknown guitar player ever!
Customer Rating: Summary: One of my favorites of Buckethead Comment: I have recently started collecting Buckethead albums, and just to get this out of the way: he is AMAZING! I have bought some of the highly recommended stuff, like "Giant Robot" and "Monsters and Robots", which really display Buckethead's ability to just shred (not sure I can use that term, since I can't play the guitar, but it just seems appropriate). But, I've also bought some of his calmer stuff: this album, "Population Override", and "Electric Tears"; I must say, I find these equally enjoyable.
I'm still in high school, and I'm bogged down with homework just about every day. So, when I'm working on homework, I always play Buckethead's peaceful and soothing albums. In other words, this album is perfect for background music or to just listen to and relax.
In my opinion, this is a must-have for any Buckethead fan: it still has some tracks displaying his guitar prowess (i.e. "Big Sur Moon" and "Machete"), but also some of the most calming and peaceful music you'll ever hear, guarenteed (basically every other song). If you enjoy listening to music while you do work or other activities, this is the best.
Customer Rating: Summary: BH, I would hate to see the skeletons in your closet ... Comment: I truly believe Buckethead is a genius.
Troubled perhaps ... but so was Belushi and Johnny Cash, IMHO.
Colma is simply amazing.
If you like this album, then listen to Electric Tears as well ...
I play guitar and I would love to jam with this guy ... the more I listen I find myslef copying some of his licks ... quite by accident but I laugh when I do ...
Generally speaking, how do you go from "For Mom" to "Nottingham Lace" with a 4+ minute guitar solo ... ah, serenity :)
If all else fails, this man (at least I think its a man ... he he he) is an *original* and truly one of a kind. God Bless you Buckethead.
Rock on,
Garbo
Customer Rating: Summary: Great, emotional album Comment: This is a great acoustic album, and is very emotional because Buckethead composed this album for his mother when she was very sick. Any Buckethead fan should like this.

Editorial Reviews:

On his third solo album, Colma, Buckethead has refined his fluid, impressively articulate guitar style, exacting a precise and occasionally jazzy tone from his instrument. Encompassing a tremendous range in both tempo and expression, Buckethead is an ideal guitar hero for the year 2000. Melodic, psychotic, and with loads of flash, he has all the burning technique of folks like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, but remains steadfastly oblivious to any real commercial considerations. Accompanied by bassist Bill Laswell, drummer Brain (Primus), DJ Disc, and cellist Terry Untalan, Buckethead embraces a plaintive, near-ambient sound structure while occasionally unleashing torrid spasms and blinding guitar runs. Alternating between gentle, haunting lyricism and meta-metal explorations, Buckethead engages in instrumental guitar warfare like no other. --Mitch Myers
