Summary: As always...
Comment: ...its the real stuff with the Clancys and Tommy Makem. Its not bubble gum folk music. Its not Peter, Paul and Mary ffs...hehe...I have this album on vinyl. Original copy. I have nearly played it to death since I was a kid. I highly recommend this - NOT for some yuppie St. Patrick's day (ugh!) brunch. But just listen to this anytime. I personally take these guys seriously. But its fun and vivid and youll go places with this one. My favorite songs here are Jug of Punch, Johnny I hardly Knew ye, and Ballinderry- which is sung by Tommy Makem and i promise youll cry...but the tears will be welcomed. Makems voice was/is unmatched!

Its like another world in your ear that leads to your heart and goes into your soul......sound corny?....just buy the CD!!

Summary: Irish Music at its best
Comment: The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem brought Irish music to the masses in Ireland as well as America. This album, their third and last before signing with Columbia, is a fine example of their simple early work. With great rebel songs like Brennan on the Moor, Roddy McCorely and Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye, and lullabys like Castle of Dromore and Eileen Aroon, there is something for every Irish fan on this disc. A Great Buy!!!

Summary: Perhaps Zoreb is Stupid.
Comment: Caracatures of Pirates, Disneyland included, IS NOT what the Clancy Brothers is about. My Grandmother was from Ulster and sang many of these songs. This is Irish music at it's finest.

Summary: Maybe Zoreb's son is stupid
Comment: Ever think that your son's helmut is strapped too tight? Clancy brothers are a cut above the rest and are pure and wonderful irish folk musicians.

Try taking your son to Pirates of the Carribean in Disneyland then take him to an old Irish Pub where Guiness flies and ol' drunken Irishmen sing...maybe then he'll get it and maybe then you can take the fatherly stance and explain to your son the difference.

Summary: are those pirates?
Comment: I played this CD for my son, aged three, and and he asked me "are those pirates?" I responded that the Clancy Brothers were not pirates, but he persisted. "Are they SAILORS?"

I figure the songs are pretty entertaining, but if a 3-year old can't tell Irish folk singers from sailors or pirates, it can't be all that good.
