Comment: I had heard a Chopin nocturne on a movie and hunted through many collections before I found it. This a very good collection of Chopin's nocturnes and impromptu peices. Beautifully put together and a great value!

Comment: I read all the reviews for this album and other one (Beethoven Sonata by Arrau) before I bought both. This one is great. I'm very picky about recording/sound quality and this one doesn't disappoint me at all, top notch amongst classical recordings.
Highly recommended!

Summary: Poor quality recording
Comment: This album was a great disappointment. There is this strange scratchy/hiss noise that occurs randomly through out the recording. It completely detracts from the music. Also, it sounded like it was recorded in some high-school gym. The acoustics were awful.

Claudio Arrau considered the Nocturnes among Chopin's deepest, most searching works, rather than mere descriptive mood paintings, and he plays them that way. The same can be said vis-à-vis Arrau's Impromptus, with brooding textures and cosmic breadth that leave the drawing room behind. --Jed Distler
