Summary: One of the essential albums in my collection
Comment: This album contains some of the most influential, well known songs of the dance era. Her powerful voice is one that has been copied by many, although most often, unsuccessfully. I put this album in when I need a little boost, or when I'm working out (yeah, right).

Comment: Great collection of songs from multiple Grammy winner Tina Turner (also, with ex-husband Ike Turner, in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame) Forty Eight years ago, on August 29, 1960, Ike and Tina Turner hit 'The Billboard Hot 100' with 'A Fool In Love' which reached #27, Tina Turner's success has continued, just like Hillary Clinton's, who in the 2008 Presidential Primary race received more votes than any of her rivals, and more votes than any other Presidential Primary candidates in history.

Comment: I love this CD. I keep it in my car and it is such a mood pick-me-upper. I play it and sing and dance while I drive and just SMILE!!! She is so terrific, and every single song makes it impossible to sit still.

Tina Turner's phenomenal reclamation of her stardom is perfectly chronicled on Simply the Best. With the exception of the Phil Spector epic "River Deep, Mountain High," everything included here comes from 1983 on. Turner's iconic voice and bluesy earnestness surface on a cover of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together." She brings a moody sensuality to "I Can't Stand the Rain." Equally adept at rock, soul, gospel, and R&B, Turner makes ordinary songs such as "Typical Male" and "Private Dancer" into extraordinary recordings. There are actually better Tina albums than Simply the Best, but it stands as a useful compilation of her comeback hits. --Steve Gdula
