Customer Rating: Summary: Great voice. Comment: He has great voice, fine songs.
"Sixteen tons" is highlight.
Good compilation,good booklet.
Customer Rating: Summary: At least it's got "16 Tons" Comment: I didn't know much about Tennessee Ernie Ford, besides "16 Tons," but figured that alone was enough to give this CD a chance. It is a good value, and has a nice mix of songs. Unfortunately, I must say very few besides "16 Tons" interested me. By and large, the songs are overly produced, and lack soul. Ford has a great voice, and a few other songs are worth listening (like "Milk 'em in the Morning Blues"). The album does what it claims to do, give you an inclusive collection of Ford's output, and if you like Ford, it probably won't dissapoint. But this CD left me cold.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great from beginning to end! Comment: I always loved "Sixteen Tons", but I never knew any of Tennessee Ernie Ford's other songs. This collection, which is in chronological order, was terrific from beginnning to end, with lots of singable songs and excellent recording quality. Some of my favorites were "Milk 'em in the Morning Blues", "Country Junction", "I'll Never Be Free", "Hey Mr. Cotton-Picker" and, of course, "Sixteen Tons", but most of the other songs are very good, also. This CD is also a great value -- lots of songs for the price.
