Customer Rating: Summary: A sad ending to a career... Comment: This is a very bad and boring record. That said, I would like to offer a few mild defenses of Mr. Brown.
First, the voice. It still sounds the same and it sounds great. This album is bad because of the songs, not because of the singing.
Second, the production. Many reviewers have made comments along the lines of "This sounds so 1992", etc. The pursuit of the latest trend in hip-hop studio gimmicks is a truly empty pursuit. Many musical greats in R&B have been consistently "behind the times" on record. Marvin Gaye, with his jazz and doo-wop inflected late records, comes to mind immediately. Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight are two more great talents who were behind the times from about 1970 to the present day. By the way, Bach's music was considered old-fashioned in his day. So let's please not encourage the meaningless pursuit of what's "new" and "trendy" in music. Soulful singing, funky grooves, memorable melodies, and meaningful lyrics will do it every time...it is unfortunate that those things are not to be found on this record...or on many others these days.
In conclusion, don't buy this record!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good album, but 5 years out of date; sounds so 1992! Comment: Bobby Brown's Forever has to be the most forgettable of the four studio albums that he's done. While he still sounds good vocally, especially on Feelin' Inside, the album's only hit, the music sounds very outdated. It sounds so 1992 on the uptempo songs and 1994-sounding on the ballads. And the R&B music scene had moved on after the new jack swing trend. Brown wrote and produced most of this album, but it doesn't have the soulful punch of Don't Be Cruel or the dance-heavy feel of Bobby. Trust me, Bobby's a dynamic singer and wants you to forget about his run ins with the law and focus more on his music. But this album is the only one I've listened to the least. He doesn't bring anything new to the table. Hopefully, after the Being Bobby Brown show that airs on Bravo, he will finally put out the album that expresses his talents the best.
Customer Rating: Summary: I know he's a little crazy but the album aint all that bad! Comment: Look i know when you think of bobby brown these days you can't get his wacky rep out of your head. And i'm definately bot declaring the cd a classic, but the album has promise. "My PLace" is a groovy jam, it has nice vocals and a really grown up sound. Its kind of wierd though cause you are wondering who he could be inviting to his place with Whitney and Bobby-Kris sitting on the couch, but anyway it's a nice song, "Sunday afternoon" is also a cut it really expresses the family man that bobby can be when he isn't in jail or in court for violating his probation he does have four kids you know and he is supposedly a loving father which he expresses in this sultry song. One of my favorite songs is a dedication song to his famous wife called, "she's all i need" it is really pretty i couldn't stop listening to it because i couldn't beleive it was him. I have to admit i originally bought the cd because i wanted to hear whitney's intro but what i got was a really grown up cd from a former teen star who still has some issues that need working out but a definate talent who let hollywood go to his head and didn't always put his music first when he should have. Anyway i'm recommending this cd because it's worth the money and it's worth the listen, and besides i think he could use the boost.
