Summary: New life for an old favorite
Comment: I had this CD in college and listened to it a lot. It was a great trip down memory lane, plus a lot of the interpretations were just great songs.

I gave away my copy of the CD at some point. Then, one day I was listening to a kids' CD I had gotten for my son and heard one of the songs from this CD on it. I bought another copy of this from Amazon and played it for my son - he LOVED it. He loves to dance and there are some very danceable songs on here (in particular the Violent Femmes cover of "Eep Ork Op Ah-ah" or whatever it is :) and he really enjoyed listening to this, as did I.

So - if you are a former early-90s grunge fan who now is old and has kids :) dig out a copy of this and put it on the CD player (if you still have one, they seem to be going the way of the 8-tracks we listened to as kids). Your kid will love this! And you won't want to tear your hair out because you're stuck listening to lame kids' music.

Summary: Enjoyable Classics...
Comment: I bought this CD the day it came out when I was in college and it's still one of my 5 favorite records 12 years later. The negative review I see here is from people with young kids; I can understand that. Watching the tripe that passes for cartoons these days would make the classics a lot harder to understand.
I actually like the Speed Racer cover on this album; I think my favorite track is the Friends/Sigmund medley though. There's definitely not enough material out there about the Krofft brothers and the weird effects they had on us all. I grew up near the tail end of all that, but it was still a big deal.
Ideally, I think this record should make us write to Fox and the other purveyors of the ADD-riddled offal I see on Saturday mornings and demand some better stuff for our kids. The DVD sets are getting pretty expensive!! :)

Summary: oh to be 11 again...
Comment: frente and w:ax make this album worth a look. still not convinced? who hasn't wondered what a "spider man" cover by the ramones would sound like?

Summary: Nostalgically silly
Comment: Hail to a passed era: when cartoons were an excellent balance of nonsense and violence. When bands didn't sound like everybody else. When Saturday mornings were well spent in front of the TV. This CD is great fun and total nonsense. It can make us twenty- and thirty- somethings feel like kids again...well, grown-up kids. There's something so wonderful about hearing our favourite TV themes when we were kids being sung by our favourite bands when we were in high school. Sumblime, The Ramones, Violent Femmes, Butthole Surfers...this album couldn't have a more perfect collection of artists. And nothing beats Wax's "Happy Happy Joy Joy". This CD is great for those parties when everyone comes over in silly pajamas, fuzzy slippers, and big hair. Make sure you have a good supply of hairbrushes to sing in to.

Summary: Disappointing.
Comment: We read all the previous reviews and thought this disc would be a keeper. We (my husband, three kids 14, 10, and 5) tried it on a warm, spring evening in the car. One or two songs, like the Banana Splits, Speed Racer, and Scooby-Doo were fun. Most however, were harsh, and too fast for the parents and youngest guy.
I would rather try these songs in their original state and skip the covers.
