Customer Rating: Summary: The Best of Theresa Brewer Comment: If you like the older songs this was a great CD it really brought back some good memories of when I was growing up and the songs my mom use to listen to.
Customer Rating: Summary: the best of teresa brewer Comment: the product is great i just love to lisen to it all the time you are a great company to deal with i feel very safe in doing busines with you all
Customer Rating: Summary: fine Teresa Brewer CD--even if a bit too short Comment: Teresa Brewer sang beautifully and she entertained millions of people throughout her lifetime. Teresa's voice is in excellent form throughout this CD; and just one listen proves it!
The track set begins with one of Teresa's very early hits entitled "Music! Music! Music!" Teresa's voice, clear as a bell, gets the perfect accompaniment from the musicians on keyboards, brass and percussion. I predict that you will enjoy "Music! Music! Music!" very much.
"You Send Me" begins with a great musical flourish; and when Teresa comes in this number takes flight! The backup choir bolsters Teresa's performance; and the brass works wonders for "You Send Me." Great! "Empty Arms" begins with the backup choir singing a few words; and Teresa bats this one straight out of the ballpark for a grand slam home run! Moreover, "I Gotta Go Get My Baby" showcases Teresa's fine ability to handle a country song flawlessly.
"Ricochet" sports a great beat; and the upbeat melody belies the seriousness of the lyrics as Teresa sings of a man who left her because he didn't truly love her. "Ricochet" has great drums, flute and guitar, too! "Pledging My Love" reverts back to a more traditional love ballad; and Teresa sings this without a superfluous note!
"Bo Weevil" features Teresa singing another country flavored ballad; Teresa makes her rendition the definitive rendition of this classic ballad! The backup choir works wonders for "Bo Weevil," too. The CD ends with a number called "A Tear Fell;" Teresa sings this marvelously and the backup choir enhances the natural beauty of this number. I like the strings on "A Tear Fell," too.
The liner notes have an excellent, informative essay by Leonard Feather; and we get the song credits, too. Very good!
Although Teresa is no longer with us, she will live on forever through these great songs. Teresa Brewer fans will enjoy this CD even though they could have added an extra track or two. I also recommend this CD for people who enjoy classic pop vocals.
Four and one-half stars (because they could have added an extra song or two).
Customer Rating: Summary: Not Bad For An Early CD Release Comment: Among the many Teresa Brewer CDs available, this early MCA release isn't a bad choice. Yes, like most of those CDs back at the dawning of the era, it only contains 10 tracks, but very much UNLIKE most of the others, this has 2 pages of liner notes written by noted jazz critic Leonard Feather (who passed away in 1994).
The AAD sound quality is also very good, and although 9 of the 10 hits included can also be found on the Varese Sarabande release Music! Music! Music! - The Best Of Teresa Brewer (along with 9 more and for not that much more), you do get here the hard-to-find I Gotta Go Get My Baby. Written by Marvin Rainwater, it was a # 19 on the Billboard Honor Roll Of Hits charts in February 1955.
Customer Rating: Summary: good listening Comment: This is a real bargain,at this price,it is easily well worth it, this is excellant music that will surely be enjoyed by almost everybody. You may end up wanting to buy more of Teresa as there are 10 songs on here, just enough to whet your appetite for more .
