Customer Rating: Summary: Simply put, one of the best hard rockin' albums.... Comment: to come out of the '70s. This album stands as a milestone in the history of rock--with the advent of Sammy Hagar, the rise of Ronnie Montrose as one of the best rock guitarists around and a solid rhythm section of Bill Church and Denny Carmassi driving it all along. I saw Montrose twice in 1974(the first time opening for the formidable Humble Pie) and they ROCKED!I had never heard of them when they opened at the Pie concert, but by the end of their set I was a dedicated fan! They equaled Humble Pie that night(maybe even outshone them) and that was an accomplishment to be proud of.About a month later, I was lucky enough to see them open a show again and this time they literally dominated.Get this disc!

Customer Rating: Summary: Rockin'! Comment: Long before he existed as a well known solo act or as frontman for Van Hagar, Sammy Hagar served as vocalist for a little rock outfit named Montrose. Now, it may not be as famous as his days with the boys in VH, but the music is just as good, if not better. Straight up, guitar driven rock n' roll, for the most part, Montrose marked their own piece of 70s rock territory with this, their self-titled debut.
It's not without flaws, but most of my criticisms would be nitpicking about an album that is, otherwise, fully enjoyable! A good time album, full of rockin' songs!
Customer Rating: Summary: A flawless gem Comment: I only bought this recently and I'm trying to fathom why I didn't earlier. This is a flawless gem from start to finish and if the likes of the mightly Iron Maiden cite Montrose, you know your're onto a winner.
There are shades of the likes of Free, Bad Company and Humble Pie; although it's heavier. Mr Ronnie Montrose's guitar burn through this album and Sammy Hagar's soulful voice are a perfect match. The bass and drums chug away in the engine room and keep your foot tapping (as you headbang and strum your air guitar).
Space Station Number 5, Rock Candy, Bad Motor Scooter, a fantastic cover of Good Rocking Tonight ( I think Elvis would have approved), Rock The Nation...etc.
Fantastic. Every home should have one!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Come on man... Comment: ITS MONTROSE! Bad motor scooter alone should make you want to own this. The whole cd is good, and if your into guitar playing, buy it to play along with. Remember to use a slide for the opening of Bad Motor Scooter, or a beer bottle, whatever is handy.
