Customer Rating: Summary: DL08- Watch Your Back Hysteria Comment: While nobody was paying attention....
Pyromania has nearly caught up to Hysteria in album sales...10 million plus against 12 million plus. DL is one of five bands all time to have two diamond albums (Beatles, Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Eagles).
Wouldn't it be funny if when it was all said and done Pyromania was their top selling album?
Customer Rating: Summary: If it's not in your CD collection, you're missing out Comment: I'll be the first to say I am not a die-hard Def Leppard fan. I LOVE hair metal, and groups like Scorpions, Motley Crue, Dokken and Whitesnake never fail to please me. Def Leppard is a great, rocking group that knows how to make some great music.
And 1983's 'Pyromania' is probably their finest moment. 'Billy's Got A Gun,' 'Photograph,' 'Rock Of Ages' and 'Foolin'' got tons of radio airplay back in the day, and they all remain classic rock radio staples even today.
Mutt Lange produced this classic, which is, in my opinion, one of the best produced records of all-time.
Overall, this is a classic album from a great hair metal band. Highly recommended for any Def Leppard or classic rock fan. It's an essential release that skyrocketed Leppard to fame. ENJOY!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: The End of Chapter One for Def Leppard Comment: This is the album that really broke Def Leppard to the masses. Nearly every song is a classic and two of their best epics appear here in "Die Hard The Hunter" and "Billy's Got A Gun". This is one of those albums that everyone should own, it's just that good. This will be the last hurrah for Pete Willis as he was dismissed during the recording process. His influence is all over the record though. Def Leppard will never have the same big riff style that they had with Willis but he drank himself out of the band so what can you do. We all saw what happened to Steve Clark when he couldn't handle the rock 'n' roll lifestyle. New guitarist Phil Collen's impact will be very apparent on Hysteria.
Customer Rating: Summary: GREAT ALBUM. WHEN WILL IT BE REMASTERED? Comment: This is a classic, but it needs to be remastered. The only version available is the original CD master, put out it 1990. It sounds weak. I can't believe it hasn't been remastered yet.
3 stars simply because the sound quality is so bad.
Customer Rating: Summary: an all-time classic album Comment: What can be said about Pyromania in addition to the previous reviews? Not much. It's a brilliant album, and a true rock classic. Awesome guitars, riffs, hooks, lyrics, and vocals. There is not a bad track on here, it is five-stars from start to finish. My favorites are Photograph, Stagefright, Too Late For Love, Comin Under Fire, and Rock of Ages. A modern musical masterpiece.

Def Leppard's rock sensibilities shot them right to the top of the charts in the '80s. On their third album, Pyromania, the band reconciled new wave melodicism with heavy metal and catchy hooks without compromising any of its edge. The album has sold over 10 million copies, due in part to heavy rotation on MTV. But even without their ubiquitous television presence, anthems like "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'" still had the stuff that drove the kids crazy. Bursts of screaming guitars and simple power riffs joined forces with choruses that begged to be shouted along to. Guitarists Phil Collen and Steve Clarke may have provided all the pyrotechnics on Pyromania, but the focal point of Def Leppard's sound, particularly for their teenage female fans, was singer Joe Elliott's voice (and, of course, his hair). The record--an essential brick in the foundation of '80s metal--also contains the hit "Photograph." --Steve Gdula
