Summary: Still rocks me after all these years
Comment: 1989-90, I was in my last two years of college. My friends and I were big Tesla fans even before this album came out, but this album really solidified it for us. We were gargantuan Tesla fans after that. We would come back from the bars and crank this album as loud as humanly possible. We called them "Tesla fits". It was great fun and would not have been the same if this album hadn't existed. It really defined a brief period in my life when beer and loud rock & roll was all I really needed. I've moved on considerably since then, but still enjoy pulling the album now and again and remembering those good times as I am right now!

Summary: The Best Tesla Ever Released
Comment: I've listened to everything Tesla ever put out, and this is the album I keep coming back to. This is Tesla in their prime. I can put this CD in my stereo and put it on shuffle/repeat and listen to it all day long.

If you're a lover of 80's hard rock, this album is a MUST OWN!!!!

Summary: No sophomore slump here!
Comment: Five stars because it has stood the test of time; I still listen to it, and it was a near perfect follow up to Tesla's first release.
The production is way different from the Mechanical CD. Same engineers, just more $$$ to spend I'm sure, but it's more than that.
The rythym guitars are much more fuller sounding, the mix just a bit more sonically filled out.
This CD is one of the few from that "era" that still sits in my CD rack.

Summary: Great Album- Nothing More To It
Comment: I just bought this album a few days ago at Coconuts [it was the last one] and I have to tell you at first I didnt know if it could match the power of Mechanical Resonance but I think it is just as good or better. I'm overly pleased with it. After hearing how good this album is, it makes me want to get all their albums and by all the great reviews about Tesla I think I might. This record is great and and every song on here is worth a listen. If you want to here great rock instead of all the crap on the radio now, I highly recommend you getting this album the next time you leave the house!

Summary: A classic... say no more.
Comment: Still holds up almost 20 years later. This was one of the first CD's I bought back in 1989. Funny thing too, I was a fat lil kid, and I used this CD as my "workout" music. And I lost 60lbs in 6 months. No joke. But the music still holds up. They didn't need gimmicks like most of the bands back around then.

Editorial Reviews:

Their blues-influenced, grittier edge set Tesla apart from the bands that littered the hard rock landscape from the late '80s to the early '90s. The Great Radio Controversy is arguably their best album, with enough hooks to catch the listener, and good, solid songwriting. Songs like "Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)," "Flight to Nowhere," and "Party's Over" show that Tesla is at their best when tackling anthems; by avoiding the overblown riffs and musical posturing of their peers, they keep these songs from sounding pretentious. Likewise, "Love Song" lives up to its title, a straightforward ballad that doesn't drip with treacle the way most hard rock power ballads do. A solid effort all around, if somewhat dated. --Genevieve Williams
